The dogs/cats at Amelia County Animal Control need our help! Please consider adopting, or fostering. This list is more of a guide to what we need.

Amelia County Animal Shelter is located in Amelia County, Virginia. They are a government run facility operated by the Amelia County Animal Control. Our Adoption fee is $10 and all our animals come with a low cost spay and neuter program certificate thanks to a local Non-Profit, APAW - Amelia Patron's for Animal Welfare. Donations can be made in person or by paypal from our website and are always appreciated. Our Kuranda wish list is at : https://shelterbeds.org/donate/42914. These beds are essential to the quality of care our animals have here in shelter. Our Amazon wish list is at: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/SSBYW89SY0FI?ref_=wl_share. We accept all brands/types of the items we are in need of! Volunteers are always needed, and welcome!

This was yesterday at lunch, Granny Frita was expressing her love of Taco Soup. This morning she met a Foster and her beagle Polly. Frita is now on her way to a loving, treat filled, hospice foster and we are so excited she gets to live in a warm, peaceful, love filled home for her remaining time. I'm not crying its just allergies.

Jack Skellington is still here and waiting as patiently as he possibly can. He loves affection and will shower you with purrs and kisses. He's neutered, vaccinated and ready to adorn your lap! Come by and see Jack and all of our other available cats and kittens!

Owner located!
This gentle giant was found on Linden Ln yesterday. She appears to be a Pyrenees/golden mix, and she'd much prefer being at home. If she's yours or you know where she belongs, please reach out to the shelter!

At this point we feel like a broken record. These are the dogs that were seized a couple weeks ago. We've been awarded custody in court, and they are now available for adoption or transfer. They are all being treated for intestinal parasites, tickborne diseases, and several are positive for heartworms. We are not posting them to start a debate about hunting with dogs- these sweet souls are looking for forever homes. Please share!

We have fantastic news: Bates has made a full recovery and is back to his affectionate self! Our cat intake is open again, and we have some amazing cats and kittens that are already spayed and neutered and ready to head home. Stop by and meet them!

Grandma does not appreciate being behind a gate, no matter the amount of hot pocket and cheese.

This old guy was picked up Saturday from Waldrop Rd. He's had a pretty rough past few days but is resting comfortably. If he's yours or you know where he belongs, please reach out to the shelter!
