Amelia County Animal Shelter is located in Amelia County, Virginia. They are a government run facility operated by the Amelia County Animal Control. Our Adoption fee is $10 and all our animals come with a low cost spay and neuter program certificate thanks to a local Non-Profit, APAW - Amelia Patron's for Animal Welfare. Donations can be made in person or by paypal from our website and are always

Wore out babies after an hour of zoomies, wrestling, toy tugs, and complete derpiness. All three of these dogs get along with all dogs and people.

Donut - Approx 4 y/o and 40 lbs. - This is a sweetheart with zoomies and likes to leap off things. Short and stout and getting stouter by the day.

Rosalind, Roz, is 3 years old. She is a love bug who likes to cuddle on the couch. She also enjoys playing and taking walks. She walks well on a leash with no pulling. She is still working on learning all the basics, sit, down, wait, etc. She knows them, but her puppy stubbornness sometimes gets in the way. So, reinforcement and continued training is needed. She needs someone strong who is willing to do the basic training as well as some advanced training for her protectiveness. She is completely potty trained. Not sure of how she is with dogs and does not do well with cats.

Everyone meet Baloo. His is a lot of dog!!!! Strong as an ox, plenty of energy, and can be a sweetheart. He is housebroken as best he can be in a shelter situation. Baloo needs a lot of time for getting his energy out and for playing tug of war, He is the champ by the way!!!!!! A meet and greet would be best if you have other dogs as he is amped up in the shelter conditions.

Adopted!!!!!!!

Benny, Pointer/Lab/Hound Mix is now fixed and has his rabies shot. This young fella, probably under 2 y/o, is so sweet and full of energy, gets along with other dogs, and does great going on walks.
