Hopewell Humane Society We are a 501(c)(3) cat-exclusive, no-kill rescue serving the Hopewell area since 1960. We do not provide veterinary services. This is approximately 4 miles.

We provide a safe haven and care for cats and kittens until they find their forever homes. Volunteer with us or help by donating! Open by appointment only at this time. Directions from east or west:

Hi, I’m Gizmo! I’m 3 years old, and as you can clearly see, I was born to live in absolute luxury.

I used to be a street cat back in my younger days, which means I know a thing or two about protecting what’s mine. Now that I’m living the indoor life, I’m still working on learning that I don’t have to guard everything from other cats... but this bed? This bed is non-negotiable.

Out of all the donation beds that came in, I spotted this plush, corduroy masterpiece and knew immediately it was meant for royalty (me). If I’m not eating or using the litter box, you can find me right here: holding down the fort, people-watching, and looking effortlessly handsome.

Other kitties need to keep their distance because this throne is claimed, but humans? Humans are my absolute favorite. I know you’re not going to steal my bed—you’re just here to give me endless chin scratches, cheek rubs, and cuddles! I am a total 100% cuddle bug with my human friends, and I can’t wait to find a forever home where I can cuddle with you all day long.

THINKING ABOUT ADOPTING AT THE KITTEN SHOWER? HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:

1. Submit your adoption application before the event.
2. Our off-site review team will process applications in advance.
3. Preapproved applicants check in at the event and receive a numbered adopter badge.
4. Badge numbers determine the order of 30-minute meet-and-match sessions.
5. If an appropriate match is approved, complete the adoption, secure your kitten in a carrier, and ring the Match Bell! 🔔

No kitten can be selected, reserved, claimed, or held before the event. We cannot guarantee which kittens will be available until the Kitten Shower begins at 12 PM. Application approval does not guarantee adoption or any particular kitten. The in-person meet-and-greet remains the final compatibility step.

Applications submitted after Wednesday, September 16, 2026 may not be reviewed before the event.

WE’RE THROWING A KITTEN SHOWER! 🍼🐾

Join us at Hopewell Humane Society on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 12:00–5:00 PM for our Kitten Shower & Adoption Open House!

For this special event, HHS will be open exclusively for the Kitten Shower and kitten adoptions. Regular adult-cat meet-and-greets will not be offered that Saturday.

You do not have to adopt to attend! Admission is one physical kitten-care item (from our Amazon Kitten Shower Wishlist) to support the babies currently in HHS care.

Please note: Bringing a donation provides admission to the event but does not guarantee an interaction with the kittens. All kitten interactions remain subject to availability and shelter management’s determination based on capacity, safety, and the welfare of the animals.

Preapproved applicants may meet and adopt available kittens during the event. Do not pick your kitten before you come—come meet them, learn their personalities, and discover who actually fits your life.

Adoption fees decrease throughout the event and are based on your arrival time:

12–1 PM: $180
1–2 PM: $160
2–3 PM: $140
3–4 PM: $120

The final prospective adopter will be admitted at 4:00 PM. No guest interactions with kittens will begin after 4:15 PM, allowing our team time to complete adoptions and safely settle the kittens before closing.

Happy Friday, everyone! Serve yourself up some sweetness this weekend with Caramel, our 6-month-old calico who is just as rich, warm, and delicious as her name implies! 🐾✨

This sugary-sweet girl is the ultimate cuddle bug who LOVES to love, making her the perfect treat for any home. If relaxation were a kitten, it would definitely be Caramel—while she certainly has her playful kitten moments and enjoys a fun play session, she is a much bigger fan of indulging in a decadent nap. You can usually find her melted into a snuggle pile with her fellow kittens, living up to her sweet family legacy as Sundae’s daughter and sister to Fudge.

As a medium-hair calico, she gives you all the delicious, fluffy looks of a long-haired beauty with a bit less maintenance, though you’ll still want to keep your brushes handy for a little extra topping care compared to your average short-hair kitty. Meet Sparrow! Sparrow is a 2-year-old sweetheart who came to us as a devoted mom looking after her nest of kittens. Now that her little fledglings have all grown up and taken flight, it’s finally her turn to be pampered and enjoy some well-deserved “me time,” stretching her wings and flying into a home of her own.

True to her name, Sparrow is a quiet, sweet-natured girl who loves to perch near the windows, watch the world go by, and stay close to her favorite people. She definitely has a playful flutter in her now and then, but she’s mostly a laid-back, reserved soul who prefers peaceful lounging over high-energy chaos. Look at that gorgeous face! Kylie is a stunning 3-year-old orange-and-white beauty who is seriously wondering why she’s still here after almost 5 long months. She watches people walk in and out every single day, always hoping the next visitor is coming to finally choose her.

Kylie is the ultimate mix of sweet and spicy. She’s our official greeter who loves welcoming anyone who enters the building with a warm, friendly hello. She’s also exceptionally smart, affectionate, and wonderfully sassy. She knows what she wants and needs a human or roommate who appreciates a cat with a little bit of fun attitude and truly understands her sassy side!

While she gets along well with everyone, Kylie naturally prefers to be the star of the show.
