Our senior boy, Zane has had a very difficult few weeks.

About two weeks ago, he experienced an incident that required an emergency visit to the ER. While at his foster home, he barked at a neighbor's dog, jumped a few inches into the air, landed on a grassy area, and immediately screamed in pain. After that, he stopped putting any weight on his back left leg and held it up completely.

We rushed him to VCA Pearl City that evening. Initially, he was diagnosed with a suspected CCL (cranial cruciate ligament) injury, which is similar to an ACL tear in humans. No broken or fractured bone. Days later, we tried to schedule an appointment with a specialist, Dr. Lam, at VCA Pearl City. Fortunately, we were able to arrange a consultation and possible surgery for the very next day.

After examining Zane, Dr. Lam immediately suspected that he had a broken bone. X-rays confirmed not only a fracture but also bone cancer called osteosarcoma. Unfortunately, osteosarcoma is a very aggressive cancer that often spreads to the lungs. Thankfully, there were no obvious signs of spread to his lungs or other parts of his body at that time based on the X-ray results.

One option was to amputate the affected leg to remove the source of pain and improve his comfort and quality of life. After careful consideration, we chose this option. His leg, along with the tumor, was removed.

We are incredibly grateful that his foster has been eager and committed to helping him recover after surgery. Dr. Lam performed the amputation surgery two days ago. Zane remained hospitalized overnight for monitoring and was discharged yesterday to return to his foster home.

The past two weeks have been especially difficult for him. He spent most of his life living with a homeless person. He was eventually adopted, but after several years he was returned, leaving him in very poor condition. Now he is facing and fighting an aggressive form of cancer.

Zane deserves the best possible life for whatever time he has remaining. We do not know how much time he has left, but we want to give him every opportunity to be comfortable, loved, and cared for.

His surgery cost $5,669.16, and we are asking for your support. If you are able, please consider making a donation to help cover his medical expenses. We are also planning a fundraising event, with dates and locations to be announced soon.

Your support will also help us arrange consultations with an oncologist and explore additional treatment options that may improve his quality of life.

Any amount, no matter how small, is deeply appreciated.

Thank you for helping Zane.

Ozzie Albies, fka Coco and Chipper Jones, fka Spike are acclimating to their new home in Las Vegas. While it’s not paradise like Hawaii, it’s a new and exciting chapter in their lives. They also went on road trips and got to play in snow and go camping. What fun!! Best of 2026 and beyond. Maybe coming back to Oahu?????😆

We had a blast at the Pet Expo this past weekend. Thank you to our volunteers for helping to make it a success. We had several alumni come to visit and they looked great. Tessie, fka Barbie and Kuma Ruffy, fka Ruffy were at their best. Bell and her mommy came to volunteer on both days and she was definitely the Bell of the ball. Follow us for stories of how our alums are doing and if you have the time, please shoot us an update. We’d love to hear from you.

2026 couldn't have started off with a better story for our rescue. In July of last year, Bell was transferred to us from the Hawaiian Humane Society. We were informed that she lived with many canine siblings and besides being a senior, she had multiple life-threatening issues. Bell is a high risk for anesthesia and therefore, cannot undergo any type of surgery now or in the future. Bell has an enlarged heart, a heart murmur of grade 6 out of 6 and a luxating patella. Although Bell was placed in Hospice status, we were hopeful that there was a very special family who would give her a forever home with the care she needs and lots of TLC during her golden years. We are sure that Bell dreamt of a forever family every day and believed that "a dream is a wish your heart makes" because today, her dream came true. Bell couldn't ask for a more perfect family because, you see, she was adopted by her foster fail forever family. She now officially has her moms and sister she can call her own. We are eternally grateful that this family who has opened their hearts and home to this special furbaby. May your lives be filled with wonder, joy and love as you start your new chapter in life.

Abby needs a new foster🙏

Abby has been with us for 1180 days (over 3 years) after being transferred from HHS. She is a bit skittish at first, but she warms up quickly. She is energetic, playful, and loves treats, food, and other dogs, especially large ones! Abby is housebroken and crate trained, and she is a very sweet, friendly, and loving girl who needs lots of exercise and doggy friends. She is very royal to her humans. Abby would thrive in a home with another friendly playful dog and an active family who can give her plenty of exercise and patience as she settles in. She is 3 years and 7 months old, weighs 18lbs, and is a corgi mix. Abby went to several trial homes, but it was never her fault that things didn’t work out. She simply hasn’t found her forever home yet. If you can help her fostering her, please message us. Thank you!

She's vaccinated, spayed and on monthlypreventives.

Here is the message from Isla's owner.

I have a golden retriever, german shepard mix that i rescued from an abusive family. She is about 4 months old and is the sweetest puppy anyone could ask for. She has either a sprained or broken leg but her leg doesn't seem to be broken. There is just some type of irritation on her pad. She is starting to walk normally. I am really hoping to find her a loving home. I am located on Oahu.

Update: Dasher's removal of stones surgery at VCA in Pearl city was successful and he went home last night. He feels so much better😍 Thank you to everyone who has donated for him. His picture and video that were taken when he was discharged are in the comments. Thank you🙏🙏🙏

Please Help Dasher 🙏

Dasher needs emergency surgery tomorrow.

Many of you may remember Dasher. He was adopted in 2022 after coming to us as a stray with his brother. He found a wonderful forever home, and he has been deeply loved ever since.

Unfortunately, we just learned that Dasher needs emergency bladder stone surgery tomorrow. He has a genetic condition that causes recurring bladder stones, and this will be his 4th surgery since being adopted. Earlier this month, on the 14th, the vet was able to temporarily push the stone back, but now surgery is unavoidable.

Dasher has needed stone removal surgery every year. His veterinarian has explained that due to this genetic disorder, the stones can recur every 6–12 months.

The estimated cost for tomorrow’s surgery is $3,000–$4,000.

We are asking for your help to support Dasher and his family during this difficult time. Any amount, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated. All donations will be sent directly to VCA tomorrow by us.

Please consider donating and sharing to help Dasher get the care he urgently needs.

Meet Mochi 💛
At just six months old, Mochi is ready to find her forever home! Rescued from Maui, this sweet girl has a bright, loving spirit and so much joy to share.
Mochi is full of playful puppy energy and absolutely loves spending time with other dogs. She would thrive in an active home and would make the perfect hiking, walking, or adventure buddy. Whether it’s exploring the outdoors or playing in the yard, she’s happiest when she’s moving and having fun by your side.
She can be a little shy at first, but with a few tasty snacks and a little patience, Mochi warms up quickly and shows her affectionate, loyal personality. Once she trusts you, she’ll happily stick close and shower you with love (especially if treats are involved!).
If you’re looking for a sweet, energetic companion who will grow with you and be your loyal adventure partner, Mochi just might be your girl. 🐾

Thank you so much for your generous donations. Because of you, Gus had a successful surgery and is recovering well!

His drainage tubes were removed about a week after surgery, and he’s been healing steadily.

As you can see in the video, he’s still the same happy-go-lucky, easygoing boy.

We would like to give a very special thank you to:
