30 Sept 1954 – The USS Nautilus, the world’s first nuclear submarine, is commissioned by the U.S. Navy. The world's first nuclear-powered boat, nuclear-powered submarine, and the first submarine to complete a submerged transit of the North Pole on 3 August 1958. Decommissioned in 1980. Now permanently moored as a museum ship at the Submarine Force Museum on the Thames River in Groton, Connecticut.

We bow our heads in profound sorrow as we bid farewell to Major Albert “Doc” Brown, the remarkable Army dentist who survived one of the darkest chapters of World War II, the Bataan Death March, and lived to the extraordinary age of 105. With his passing, America lost more than a veteran. We lost a witness to unimaginable suffering, a survivor whose life became a testament to courage, endurance, and the astonishing strength of the human spirit.

National Memorial of Military Ascent, aka the D-Day Memorial, honoring the U.S. Rangers 2nd Battalion for their heroic efforts at Normandy. Located on the Great River Road in Grafton, IL, it sits on a 100 foot bluff right on the Mississippi River. It was officially dedicated on June 6, the 82nd anniversary of D-Day. Each bronze figurine weighs 500 lbs. and depicts the grueling and intense efforts put forth by the Rangers.
