Old Homosassa Learning Center Summer Camp

Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park was our adventure today!! Campers and volunteers and baby walked the tram trail then road the tram back to enjoy the park!
We always get the best pictures when the volunteers take them!!

Thank you Homosassa River Restoration Project for coming in today and teaching the kids about all the ways they can help keep our river healthy! The campers put eel grass in soil pods that will end up being planted in our river!!
We also danced with some of the Zumba ladies over at the Old Homosassa Learning Center!
Great day!

Today’s camp activity was guided by local artist Jasmine Cora! She helped the campers make their very own work of art! We have such a creative and unique group of kiddos!!!
We also checked out our tie dye from Friday!

Water day chaos!!
Pool noodle fights, water balloon fights, giant water balloons (no throwing those they weigh like 5 pounds!), shaving cream, screaming, laughing…. A little bit of crying but mostly laughing! Oh and we finally started to tie dye our shirts!! Took us all week to get to it!

Day 4!!!
We made the camp favorite - beaded lizards!!! Then we used a bunch of recycled materials to build them unique habitats and oh boy are they unique! Our campers are so creative!!!

What a day!!
Before walking down to the Old Homosassa Heritage Park we “saved Fred” the gummy worm with paper clips, a gummy lifesaver, and teamwork (and maybe some cheating…!)
At the park the kids played on the playground and fished on the shore with Old Homosassa fishing guide Captain Eric Toney.
Successful adventure! The campers landed 3 fish and a crab… and hooked the tree a few times!

Thank you Citrus County Beekeepers for visiting us and teaching us so much about those honey making critters!!!

We have some wild and crazy campers and wonderful volunteers to help keep the chaos managed!!!
Going to be a great summer!!!
