National Grief Awareness Day is observed August 30th to bring awareness to the mix of emotions an individual can experience when navigating grief. It is important to understand that there is no timeline for grief and all of the emotions you may experience are valid.

Ways to recognize this day on your own or with your community include:
- Practicing self-care
- Join a support group
- Honor someone you have lost
- Offer support to someone you know that is grieving by checking in

New beginnings can lead to new emotions. A lot of kids have increased anxiety at the beginning of the school year. School can be difficult for any child so what can parents do to help their child thrive.

- Let your child know that its ok for them to share their feelings. Keeping an open space for children to talk to you about what is going on in their lives will help prevent them from feeling anxious or alone.
- Allowing your child to spend time with their friends. Having play dates with other children will help your child feel more prepared for school and more prepared for the social interactions of the school year.
- Letting your child know that there may be a change in their regular routine. Letting a child know of different changes for the school year will help them feel less surprised when major changes happen.
