🌈🐾 FLY HIGH, SWEET MYRA. YOU WERE SO LOVED. ❤️
We want to thank everyone who rallied around Myra, shared her story, prayed for her, and supported her care. We had hoped with all our hearts for a different outcome, but tragically, we were unable to get her seizures under control. A brain tumor was suspected, and we were faced with the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye.
Myra was surrendered back to Last Chance Animal Rescue at the end of September, arriving on eight different medications. As we reviewed her medical history, it became clear that the anxiety, restlessness, and distress we were witnessing had been longstanding. An MRI had been recommended in July but declined by her owner. Sadly, we suspect a brain tumor may have been responsible for her worsening seizures.
What we did know was that Myra was struggling, and her quality of life had been compromised long before she returned to us.
Although Myra was only back in our care for a short time, she left an enormous impression on everyone who met her. ❤️
We are forever grateful to the wonderful staff at Bed and Biscuit Pet Resort, where Myra received exceptional care and was showered with affection. She even enjoyed a special photo shoot courtesy of Picture Me Home Photography that captured those beautiful, soulful eyes and the joyful spirit. Myra was the best dog, great with everyone and everything, a true pleasure. She was loved by the staff and the volunteers who spent time with her.
On Wednesday, Myra began experiencing clusters of grand mal seizures. Despite emergency treatment, her condition continued to deteriorate. It became painfully clear that the constant anxiety, restlessness, and distress she experienced were not simply occasional moments of discomfort, but an ongoing struggle that had taken a tremendous toll on her quality of life.
We are especially grateful to Nicolle, Courtney, Sal, Ella and everyone who made sure Myra’s final days were filled with kindness, comfort, and love.
When the time came to say goodbye, Courtney and Sal made sure she was not alone. She was surrounded by people who loved her, enjoying gentle snuggles and even some fried mozzarella. ❤️
Myra broke our hearts for so many reasons.
We cannot change her past or erase the pain she experienced when she lost her home. Nor can we give her the future we had so desperately hoped for. But we could give her something that mattered just as much—a final chapter filled with kindness, compassion, dignity, and love.
Sometimes rescue isn’t about saving a life. Sometimes it’s about ending suffering and making sure an animal leaves this world knowing nothing but love.
Thank you to everyone who helped us give Myra that final gift.
