When I took over Long Island Craft Beer Week in 2014 my goal was to help Long Island breweries grow their brand and get the word out to more people. I had always advocated for the Long Island breweries and I wanted a bigger platform to continue on. Even now that I’m out of the game over a year and a half, I’m still advocating for the beer industry in the state of New York, on Long Island and in Albany. I only wish more of our local breweries would take advantage of this page and send me their events to post. But anyway, one of the early guys in were these guys, so I am sharing their post as as well as my own.
Long Ireland Beer Company was one of the early guys in the game during the Long Island craft beer revolution. Two great guys making beer and having fun. I met them at the beer club. I remember the first day they proudly walked into my store with samples. They created what is truly one of the most friendly tasting room atmospheres ever. They ran promotions more for their regulars than to grab new people in because they understood that “family first“ wasn’t just for your family at home. I have been privy to all of their struggles and all their successes. Their highs and their lows that all small businesses go through. But like the champs they are, they always soldiered on with a smile on their face, a handshake and a hug.
If you haven’t been there in a while, stop on down and say hello. If you haven’t picked up the beer at your local store in a while, grab a six pack for Memorial Day weekend. Celtic is always part of my gatherings because Celtic is the perfect beer for the guy who thinks we’re all too snooty for regular beer and doesn’t want to drink our “fancy“ beers. I’ve said it hundreds of times since Celtic showed up on the market.. “Celtic is the most brilliant beer on Long Island, it goes with pizza, burgers, a steak, just about anything. Your Bud guy can drink it, your craft guy can drink it, and neither will be disappointed“
Read Dan’s post and think about it the next time you pop into your local beer store.
We’re not crying into our beers… but we’re definitely staring into them a little longer these days.
After 16 years of brewing beer on Long Island, the cost of everything has gone up, from hops & grain, to aluminum cans and cups! Sales are down everywhere, expenses are up, and this economy is rougher than the day after Half Way hangover. We are struggling to survive like so many businesses are & our future isn’t guaranteed. Every day we see local breweries, restaurants & local businesses we love closing their doors and we don’t want that to be our fate too.
We want nothing more than to keep making beer for you and throwing fun events that we’ve all come to love. But we can’t do it alone. So here’s how you can help keep the taps flowing here at Long Ireland:
• Stop in with friends and knock back a few pints. We’re open 7 days a week!
• Stock up on cans, or grab a keg and be the hero of your next BBQ
• Ask for us at your local beer store or distributor. We are now self distributed!
• Put us on tap if you own a bar or restaurant (we pair well with profits & local beer is always a good look!)
• Host your club or group in our tasting room—
our brew house or beer garden make a unique location for your outing!
The more you sip, the more we survive. Let’s keep this brewery alive one beer at a time. We hope to see all of you soon!
