Morning, Day 50 Yesterday was Pentecost Sunday 2026. Here are the things spoken on the day of Pentecost.

Acts 2:4 NLT And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.

Acts 2:39 NKJV For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

Acts 2:1718‘ NKJV And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days;
And they shall prophesy.

All of these clearly explain that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is for us today. If you have a home church that believes in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the gift of tongues have someone there pray over you to receive this gift. If you don't, God is present where you are and is well able to grant you this gift right where you are.

Allow that river of life to flow from the innermost part of you. Yield your ability to speak to God. Begin to speak whatever begins to proceed out of your mouth.

Do so in faith, trusting all that you have learned in these fifty days. As you do so allow that language to develop as you speak. You will begin to sense the Spirit of God as you do. Once you have received this gift. You can practice it anytime you desire.

It should become a regular part of your prayer time. As you do so, you will live a life in a heightened sense of spiritual awareness. Mahalo for joining us for these 50 Days to Pentecost.

Morning, Day 49 Finding Center

In the last lesson we learned from Jesus on how we are filled with the Holy Spirit. It flows like a river from the innermost part of our being. It is where all of us find intuition, that gut feeling of when things are wrong or right. Some scripture refers to it as our belly. Which is quite accurate as far as location goes. The following scripture speaks of this very same thing.

Proverbs 20:27 KJV The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

It is the center of our being. It is where our spirit resides. It is exactly what this scripture is speaking about. Here it is referred to as the candle of the Lord. It is where the Lord lights us up. Here it refers to it as our inner parts.

Do not ignore the core of your being. Better yet, realize it is where God personally stays in touch with us. Learn to develop your sensitivity to this. This is where God imparts spiritual gifts to us. Jesus referred to it as where the "river of life' flows inside of us and can flow out of us to help others as well.

This is where Jesus came to live inside of us. Not somewhere far away. This is why Christians are referred to as temple of the Holy Spirit in the Bible.

When I get a sour feeling in my stomach, I know something is not right, I pray. Or if I am making a decision at the time, I put it on hold. Usually when God wants to confirm something is right there is a jump of joy or life there as well.

Praying in tongues heightens this awareness because we are stirring up our spirit when we do it.

Morning, Day 48 There is a river.

As we have seen in the last forty-seven days. The Bible has a lot to say about the ministry of the Holy Spirit, spiritual gifts and being filled with the Spirit. In reality there is so much written about it, it is impossible to speak of it all in fifty days.

In the following scripture reference Jesus is speaking. He is giving us an indication of how we receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the gift if speaking in tongues.

John 7:38,39 NLT Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, 'Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.'" (When he said "living water," he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.)

Where it says "flow from his heart" the literal translation says " from his belly" meaning from the innermost part of our being. Some would say "from our gut".

When asking God for the baptism of the Holy Spirit we receive it from within. It is very common for people to respond that they feel "stirred inside" when receiving the Holy Spirit. Well, that is the very river Jesus was talking about here. It wants to flow out of us. Pay attention now, Jesus said here He would be giving this to everyone who believes in Him. That includes you.

Don't ignore this. It is for us.

Morning, Day 47 There is a pouring out.

God is omnipresent He is present everywhere at all times. When we ask Him to reveal Himself to us, He is well able to do so. In the following story the apostle Peter is supernaturally led by the Holy Spirit in a dream to Cornelius's home. He is a gentile. Which simply means he is not Jewish. We who are not, are all considered gentiles.

Acts 10:44-46 NLT Even as Peter was saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message. The Jewish believers who came with Peter were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles, too. For they heard them speaking in other tongues and praising God.

When it says the Holy Spirit "fell upon" it means they were embraced by the very presence of God. This is what happens when we, like them, are not just listening to what we are learning but embracing it as something we desire as well.

It said this gift was "poured out" on them. A more proper way to explain it is that the Holy Spirit poured this gift in them and it poured out of them. It began to spill out of them. Then they heard them speak in a language foreign to their knowledge. Notice, they spoke. They were not overpowered to do so. They were expecting to receive. When they sensed the pouring in, they allowed the Holy Spirit to pour out. And they yielded their ability to speak to the words God gave them to proceed out of their mouths out loud. Remember everyone heard them. This is how we also receive.
More tomorrow.

Morning , Day 46 You will be talking to God.

The 12th, 13th, and 14th Chapters of 1st Corinthians are there to teach us about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Let's look at some of this.

1 Corinthians 14:1-4 NLT Let love be your highest goal! But you should also desire the special abilities the Spirit gives—especially the ability to prophesy. For if you have the ability to speak in tongues, you will be talking only to God, since people won't be able to understand you. You will be speaking by the power of the Spirit, but it will all be mysterious. But one who prophesies strengthens others, encourages them, and comforts them. A person who speaks in tongues is strengthened personally, but one who speaks a word of prophecy strengthens the entire church.

The apostle Paul makes sure we know that when we pray in tongues, we are talking to God. Paul is writing this letter around sixty years after Jesus death and ressurection. For all his years he felt it necessary to encourage every Christian to be filled with the Holy Spirit. He knew how important it was to personally strengthen a Christians life.

Churches and ministers avoid teaching today what Jesus and Paul said was necessary, simply to avoid controversy. Today there are at least 640 million Spirit filled Christians. Is it for us today? Very much so.

As we approach the Day of Pentecost I encourage those reading these devotions to ask God for this gift. I myself cannot see doing life in this crazy world without it. More tomorrow on how to receive.

Morning Day 45 There will be signs

All Scripture is given to us for our profit. We do not get to choose which ones we like or dislike. The ones we purposely choose not to accept are unable to profit our lives.

Mark 16:17,18 NKJV And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

The ressurected Jesus instructed His disciples to go into all the world and preach the gospel. To baptize those who believe and then said that these "signs" will follow those who believe. That words signs, means to "signify and indicate" that we are believers in Jesus. We have spent 44 days learning that these spiritual gifts should follow believers closely in their lives. This is how we draw closer in our personal relationship with God.

The part about taking up serpents and drinking anything deadly is about divine protection for those who are called into dangerous situations on missionary journeys. It applies to those who fall victim to them. To purposely do these things is foolishness .

These truths are meant to be in believers lives. Jesus is the one who proclaimed it. We were destined to live it.

Morning, Day 44 Spiritual gifts are meant for all believers.

You will hear some say " the gifts of other tongues is not for today" or not for every Christian. We'll, better let Peter know that. This is what he said about it on the day he first spoke in tongues on the day of Pentecost. This was a part of his first sermon to the crowd who witnessed them operating in this spiritual gift that day.

Acts 2:38,39 NLT Peter replied, "Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise is to you, to your children, and to those far away—all who have been called by the Lord our God."

Read the whole second chapter of Acts and it even says more. Peter is telling us here that anyone who has called upon Jesus to forgive their sins, and made Him their Lord can be filled with the Spirit of God and receive this spiritual gift.

I heard people teach about it soon after my salvation. I read a simple book about it explaining this very point. At home, I asked God to fill me, and He did. Just me and Him. No one else was there. God is omnipresent He can fill us wherever we are.

God did not overwhelm me and take control of my tongue and speaking abilities. No I asked, then sensed the presence of God upon me and yielded my speaking abilities and voice to the Holy Spirit and began speaking whatever would proceed out of my mouth out loud enough to be heard by my own ears. Anyone can do the same. The same is possible for anyone. More tomorrow.

Morning, Day 43 Just the Beginning

You might ask, why should I be filled with the Holy Spirit and pray in other tongues? Why? Because it is the very beginning of seeing all these spiritual gifts becoming operational in our lives. Look what Scripture has to say about it.

Ehesians 1:13,14 MSG It's in Christ that you, once you heard the truth and believed it (this Message of your salvation), found yourselves home free—signed, sealed, and delivered by the Holy Spirit. This down payment from God is the first installment on what's coming, a reminder that we'll get everything God has planned for us, a praising and glorious life.

The very first spiritual gift to show up on the day of Pentecost was speaking in tongues, that same day they began operating in the gift of prophecy. Soon after, they are healing the sick, having visions and dreams and converting thousands to be saved. Praying in tongues is the first installment of a spiritual gift that a person can choose to receive from the Holy Spirit.

As we practice praying in other tongues we will see these other gifts operate in our lives as well. This scripture reference tells us "that we'll get everything God has planned for us". Want everything? Receive the first thing, first. I can explain this, because I have done this, and continue to do it. That would not matter, unless I could explain it from scripture as well.

Morning, Day 42 Discerning of spirits
Here in scripture is an example of the spiritual gift operating in the Apostle Paul. It is easily explained after the fact.

Acts 16:16 -18 NLT One day as we were going down to the place of prayer, we met a slave girl who had a spirit that enabled her to tell the future. She earned a lot of money for her masters by telling fortunes. She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, and they have come to tell you how to be saved.”
This went on day after day until Paul got so exasperated that he turned and said to the demon within her, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And instantly it left her.

Notice that Paul did not notice this immediately, this went on for days. This girl was operating under the influence of a wrong spirit. The spirit in the woman attempted to hide itself by trying to affirm Paul and the men with him as, "servants of the Most High God". This began to annoy Paul’s spirit. He then realized she was under the influence of a demonic spirit and cast the spirit out of her. She no longer could " tell fortunes".

The girl behaved like she was with them. Much like a "groupie" follows Rock bands because they want attention as well. When people try to attach themselves to our lives but it does not feel right, it maybe we are discerning a wrong spirit attached to their lives. Paul did not fight her. He set her free.

Remember she was a slave to her masters. She was being trafficked for their benefit. How useful is this gift for us today.
