Joan's Joy - The Joan Angela D'Alessandro Memorial Foundation

The Joan's Joy Foundation honors the memory of 7-year old Girl Scout Joan. The Foundation promotes child safety via programs plus helps poor children.

Joan was 7 yrs old when she was sexually assaulted and murdered while delivering Girl Scout cookies to a neighbor in Hillsdale, NJ in 1973. Although Joan's life was brutally taken, her spirit lives on and gave her mother, Rosemarie, the strength to have fought to keep her daughter’s killer in prison and get legislation such as "Joan's Law" among others passed at the state and federal levels.

Rosemarie was so happy to meet the 5th annual Joan's Joy "Stand Up and Do something" scholarship winner Ben. Toby at just 10 years old created a virtual reality school project on Joan and the white butterfly garden (she played ode to Joy on the piano for the background music). She came over last week with her mother ask Rosemarie some questions. She was quite the interviewer to! What a great way to introduce child safety to children. We are so grateful she chose to tell Joan's story in this creative and wonderful way.

A Joan's' Joy supporter saw this "J" in the street ,amazingly everything was dry except for the J. Then he passed the area 5-10 minutes later and there was no J. If you go to the book the Message of Light that Rosemarie just launched you will learn something in the first paragraph of the last part called Reflections and Insights that happened on the first day of Joan's life that you can't make up. Maybe the "J" can be directing us to knowing how Joan's legacy continues to unravel and what she wants you to know. You can go to Joansjoy.org to order the book, it is $21.97.

Today is the anniversary of D-Day , we saw the movie Pressure recently and reminded us of the sacrifice so many made to ensure we live in a country where regular people can advocate for change and join together and be successful in changing our laws.
