In memory of the beloved Judge Sara Lisznyai and in recognition of her love of people and country life, we started a small farm for the children at the Joy Learning Center in Uganda!

Several donors stepped forward to start the project donating money to purchase 20 chickens, 2 goats, fencing, and enough animal feed for several months for the school. This little farm will provide much needed food for the children at the school.

The two children in the picture with headmaster Grace are helping to care for the animals.

If you are not part of the Uganda sponsorship program, please join us! We sponsor children in a little village in Uganda who would otherwise be unable to attend school. Sponsoring one child for one year is $300. Please contact Rotarian Heather Tritchka or message the page for more information!

UPDATE ON THE UGANDA PROJECT:
We are in the last trimester for 2026 at the Joy Learning Center in Uganda and there are 130 students attending!

A sponsorship of just $300 allows a student to attend for the year. We have also been able to offer the children rice and beans at least once a week in addition to the daily corn mash, and purchase additional books for the children!

If you would like to sponsor a child/children for the 2027 school year, reach out to Rotarian Heather Tritchka or message this page.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR CASH RAFFLE WINNERS:

-First place, $2,500: Daniel Kunkel (our very own Rotarian!)
-Second place, $1,000: Rob Kunkel (Daniel's brother!)
-Third Place, $500: Marie Williams

Despite extensive shuffling and the musicians from the Summer Block Party concert pulling the winning tickets, the Kunkel brothers may never get over the allegations... haha! What an incredible stroke of luck!

We want to give a sincere thank you for all of you supporting our Fitness Park project fundraiser. We are optimistic that dirt will start flying this fall!!

Nearly twenty years ago, the Hillsdale Rotary Club completed the Baw Beese Trail in our community. We’re excited to share that this summer, in partnership with the City of Hillsdale, more than two miles of the trail have been resurfaced and repaired.

A heartfelt thank you to the City and to the many generous individuals who donated to our maintenance fund at the Hillsdale County Community Foundation — helping keep both the trail and Rotary Park Sandy Beach in great shape for everyone.

Good things continue to happen in our community, and the Rotary Club is proud to help bring even more exciting recreational opportunities later this year.
