Hark-ALS helped a family with an EZ lock system for their handicapped van. I received this email today

Dear Donna,
I wanted to let you know that I received the check from HARK for the installation of the EZ Lock system in our van.
I truly cannot thank you and HARK enough for helping us with this. Having the EZ Lock installed will make such a difference for me and my family by allowing me to safely secure my wheelchair in our van and making transportation so much easier.
Your kindness, support, and willingness to help mean more to me than I can put into words. When you're dealing with ALS, things like this can feel overwhelming, and having an organization like HARK step in to help takes such a weight off our shoulders.
Please know how deeply grateful I am. Thank you for being there for families like mine and for making a real difference in our lives.

Hark-ALS receives 5-6 requests a week for assistance from ALS families.
It is the small things that these families appreciate, much of which we all take for granted.

The new scooter has been received, assembled and charged. Last night I took it out on the trails near our house and had a wonderful experience.

I'm sure you know how desperate we ALS peeps get especially here in Hawaii thee most expensive place on earth to live and survive !
Our health system is an epic fail for us all of a sudden !

We helped a family that has to take their loved one to a neighbor's to shower because he can't use their bathroom. They need $13,000 to renovate it. I wish I could give them all they need but we don't have unlimited resources and we get 4-5 requests a week for assistance. We did give them a grant and got this email in return:

Words can not express my deepest appreciation enough! This disease is already so hard draining us financially, since I’ve had to quit work to care for him. Every little bit helps us get this mess of a bathroom back to where he can safely use it. Thank you, thank you, thank you, SO very much for all of your help and support!
