Hillsborough YMCA is a branch of Greater Somerset County YMCA. Hillsborough YMCA is located on East Mountain Road in Hillsborough, NJ.

Our members enjoy a lap pool plus a therapy pool, fitness center, numerous group exercise classes, a gymnasium, and an early childhood education and child care center. We also offer enrichment classes for kids, exercise programs for seniors, a dynamic summer camp program and more. Our facility is accessible for those with disabilities. Visit Us:

The NJ YAG (New Jersey Youth and Government) program for civic-minded students to help them develop public speaking, improve writing and research skills, and be empowered to advocate for their beliefs. Guided by our four core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, NJ YAG focuses on fostering debate and friendships between delegates, allowing students to develop in a safe and supportive environment.

🧑‍⚖️ New Jersey YAG has been educating students in civic engagement and public speaking since its inception in 1938
👩‍⚖️ Students will actively simulate the entire legislative process
🧑‍⚖️ Students are mentored by a dedicated volunteer staff of NJ YAG alumni
👩‍⚖️ The program culminates every year in a three-day legislative simulation that offers more than 400 delegates the opportunity to debate state issues, engage in servant leadership, and forge lifelong relationships

Every Y Story Matters: At 7 years old, Avery was a first-time swimmer and understandably nervous about getting into the water. Her mom, Christine, enrolled her in swim lessons hoping to help Avery become more comfortable and confident in the pool.

Unfortunately, Avery’s first lesson didn’t go as planned. While Christine shared that the instructor was wonderful and patient with her, the size and depth of the lap pool were simply overwhelming for Avery. Rather than giving up on lessons, Christine reached out to our Aquatics Director, Ed, to see what could be done.

Ed quickly worked with the family to find a better fit, moving Avery into a lower-level class held in our smaller therapy pool. The change made all the difference. In an environment where she felt more comfortable and secure, Avery was able to participate, build confidence, and, most importantly, have fun in the water.

Christine was thrilled to see her daughter go from being nervous about getting in the pool to genuinely enjoying her lesson.

Avery’s story is a great reminder that sometimes making an impact is as simple as listening to a family, meeting a child where they are, and finding the environment that allows them to succeed. For Avery, that small adjustment turned a challenging first experience into the beginning of a positive relationship with the water.

Memory Café held at Hillsborough YMCA is a free, volunteer-led program for individuals experiencing memory loss, Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, other memory challenges. Attendees can come with their caregivers, family or friends and engage in guided activities together, creating meaningful connections and shared experiences while enjoying each other’s company.

Meeting take place on the third Thursday of each month and this month's theme is Dance, specifically LaBlast (ballroom style dancing)! To register visit, https://www.gscymca.org/memory-cafe-hy.
