High Rocks Educational Corporation The mission of the High Rocks is to educate, empower, and inspire young people in West Virginia. We do not charge for our programs.

We believe that all people are gifted and that by investing in young people, we are creating a strong, vibrant, participatory community for us all. High Rocks programs are provided through the support of grants, private donors, and the support of the community we serve. The total cost of the Growin

g Renewed Opportunities for Workers in Appalachia (G.R.O.W Appalachia) program is $5M, and includes Farm (Ruby Grow and Grow Appalachia), Tech Express, and Workforce Trainee programming. $1.5M (30%) is funded through the U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration Grant, and the remaining $3.5M (70%) of the program is funded by allowable federal and non-federal funding. Grow Appalachia is presented in partnership with Berea College with grant support from the Pocahontas County Convention and Visitors Bureau, (304) 799-INFO (4636), 301 8th St, Marlinton, WV 24954. The WV Jobs Network is powered by the Appalachian Regional Commission, the Economic Development Administration, and the Benedum Foundation. 🌱 Reminder! Our next Grow Appalachia Garden Planting Workshop is coming up Tuesday, May 19 at 5:30PM...and we’ve got a new location for it!

📍 Join us at 123 Elm St. in Hillsboro for an evening of gardening tips, hands-on learning, and free supplies to help your garden thrive.

If you missed the last class, arrive 30 minutes early for a quick makeup session. Don’t forget to bring a soil sample from your garden so we can help you grow your best season yet! 🌿🥔🌼

Participants will receive garden supplies, plant starts, fertilizer, and more.
We can’t wait to grow with you! 💚

Have you ever wanted to solve a crime like a real forensic scientist? In this hands-on workshop series, you’ll step inside the world of forensic investigation. Learn how forensic anthropologists study human skeletons to uncover clues, lift and analyze fingerprints, and even calculate the trajectory of blood spatter. Join forensic science professor Dr. Kristy Henson as she takes you behind the scenes of a real forensic science lab and shows you how science helps solve mysteries.

Open to middle and high school students (12+)
