BIG NEWS for downtown High Point! New housing is coming in December 2027! 🏠✨
Showplace West — the iconic corner building that's been part of our downtown since 1974 — is being transformed into Elwood on Main: 143 brand-new homes right in the heart of the city.
The vision, driven by Downtown High Point, is to bring people home to downtown, offering vibrant livability to our community and, in turn, residential supporters to our small businesses in and around downtown.
"I am a big proponent of housing first," explained Rebekah Cansler, Executive Director of Downtown High Point. She gave us the behind-the-scenes look at what's being preserved and transformed at the historic property, and how Elwood on Main is poised to bring something brand new to our city.
Bank, plaza, restaurant, showroom — and now, finally, home! Showplace West has been a lot of things to High Point over the past 50 years. But its next chapter might just be its best one. Because this is the kind of project that doesn't just fill a building... It fills a gap our community has felt for a long time. ❤️
