❣️ Waffles Update ❣️

Waffles was released from UC Davis this morning! Although we are over the moon that he gets to come home and be in our care again, we have a long road ahead of us.

Multiple veterinarians saw Waffles and were involved in his overnight treatment. Unfortunately, all of the test results came back inconclusive to what disease he is fighting. Waffles will be on two different antibiotics for the next two weeks to help him fight the infection.

Since Waffles is still not using his back end, his bladder needs to be expressed every 4-6 hours. The veterinarians took their time and taught us how to do this efficiently. Thankfully we have the ability to provide 24 hour care to this little guy! Bring on the coffee!

Thank you to everyone who has sent healing prayers, donated, and stayed positive for Waffles’ journey. We are staying positive and hoping for the best outcome possible! 🙏❤️ We will be sure to post updates on his progress.

🐾 UPDATE ON WAFFLES FROM UC DAVIS 🐾

Our sweet Waffles is still fighting. ❤️‍🩹

The good news is that he is eating like a champ and going to the bathroom normally! 🙏 He does still have a fever. Thankfully, it has not gotten worse, but it continues to go up and down.

UC Davis has started him on antibiotics, but we know these can take time to start working. At this point, his doctors are fairly certain that we are dealing with some type of infectious disease (whether bacterial, fungal, or viral) and they are continuing to work toward figuring out exactly what is attacking his little body.

Because Waffles is only 5 weeks old, there is a limit to how much blood they can safely draw for testing. Today they plan to do a urinalysis to help test for a possible fungal infection without having to take more blood from him.

His doctors have told us that Waffles is a very unique case. So far, all of his littermates are still doing well even though they were exposed to the same environment. It is possible that Waffles simply has a weaker immune system and wasn’t able to fight off whatever he was exposed to the way his siblings have.

🏥 Waffles will be spending another night at UC Davis.

So far, we have had to put down $2,600 toward his care, which includes tonight’s hospitalization. His veterinary team is being incredibly thoughtful about his treatment and testing. They don’t want to spend money on tests that won’t help us get closer to a diagnosis or change his treatment plan.

❤️ THIS IS WHERE WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP.

If you are able to donate, we are asking that donations be made directly to UC Davis toward Waffles’s hospital bill whenever possible. The hospital can see the funds available on his account, which helps his veterinary team determine which important testing and care we are able to move forward with.

We are a small rescue, and a $2,600+ emergency bill is a huge expense for us. Even $5, $10 or $20 adds up and gives Waffles another little piece of the care he needs.

🚨 EMERGENCY DONATIONS🚨

We received Waffles’s CBC back and he has extremely high elevated levels. Doctors have confirmed that he is fighting an infection that has paralyzed half of his body.

Waffles has to be hospitalized tonight with antibiotics as he has been declining more as the day progressed. An infectious blood panel will be drawn in the morning so we can narrow down what his body is fighting.

The veterinary emergency bills have totaled $2,600 today. We are asking for our community’s help to donate, share, and pray that Waffles will recover from whatever has taken over his body. We hope to have more answers from the morning doctor after he is observed tonight!

Update! We are waiting for Neuro to do their exam and they will most likely recommend X-Rays and Blood Work. Possible trauma to the back spine or infectious disease at the moment but still uncertain. Keep the little guy in your prayers.

Now she’s pregnant, living outside, and had no one there to care for her.

Bella is VERY pregnant and already has milk coming in, so we’re expecting babies soon! 🐶🍼

❤️ HE’S HOME! ❤️

Our little guy is home and relaxing after his big day! 🥰

Once they were able to get a good look at his mouth while he was under, they ended up pulling 8 baby teeth! 😳 He does have stitches in his mouth, so he’ll be enjoying wet food for the next 2 weeks while everything heals.

His neuter went great, and now it’s time for lots of rest, cuddles, and recovery. 🐾❤️

And the BEST news… his entire vet bill was completely covered! 🎉

🐾 We are here at Badger Creek with our little guy! ❤️

Today is a big day for this sweet boy! We are at the vet now, and he is getting neutered and having his baby teeth checked and pulled as needed. 🦷🐶

We have already raised almost $350 toward his estimated $600 vet bill, and we are SO grateful to everyone who has donated! ❤️

The final cost will depend on how many baby teeth need to be removed. He wasn’t exactly willing to let us get a good look inside his mouth 😂, so once he is under anesthesia, the vet will be able to thoroughly check everything and we’ll know more.

🐾 UPDATE ON OUR NEW LITTLE GUY — AND WE NEED YOUR HELP! 🐾

We just got back from Badger Creek Veterinary Clinic, and this sweet little guy was definitely scared, but he was such a trooper. ❤️

He received all of his vaccines today, and overall, the vet says he is healthy! Unfortunately, you can also see some signs of what he has been through.

He has several scars on his skin that are believed to be from the severe matting he had before he was shaved. 💔 His mouth also needs some work. He still has several baby teeth that need to be removed and are in pretty rough shape. One was actually rotten and barely hanging on, so they were able to pull it today. Thankfully, his adult teeth look good!

The vet estimates that he is only around 1 year old. 😭 That means this little 4-pound guy has been through an awful lot in such a short life.

We have him scheduled back at Badger Creek this Wednesday to be neutered and have the remaining bad baby teeth removed. His neuter is a little more complicated because only one testicle has dropped. Thankfully, they were able to locate the other one, but it will require a more involved surgery.

His estimated medical bill is around $600.
