AB 2324 was approved by the Governor on July 16th, 2026! CALBHB/C is a proud co-sponsor!

AB 2324 is an important step in addressing behavioral health workforce shortages while increasing support for youth!

AB 2324 formally recognizes California's youth caregivers: young people in the grades 9–12 age range who provide essential help or care for someone with ongoing health, disability, mental health, frailty, or age-related needs.

The bill directs California's education officials to consider content on the role of youth caregivers within the Personal Care and Services career pathway. It also looks at how in-home caregiving experience could connect to work experience education, high school credit, work-based learning, and preparation for direct support professional careers.
