💗 Meet the Griffon Family 💗

Through our 2025 Adopt-A-Family program, the Ogden Family Foundation had the honor of supporting Sydney and her family of seven. As Sydney faced breast cancer treatment, her family navigated financial challenges while holding close to what mattered most: having one another.

Supporting families like the Griffons means so much to us. During a difficult season, easing some of the burden and bringing a little holiday joy is one way we can remind families that their community cares.

For our Executive Director, Kema Ogden, a breast cancer survivor, this month holds a deeply personal meaning. Her journey reflects strength, faith, perseverance, and the importance of having a community beside you.

This October, we honor survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and stand with everyone navigating breast cancer and the loved ones who support them.

On Saturday, October 10, from 11 AM–3 PM, Kema will be the Featured Speaker at Bottles, Brushes & Brunch: A Day of Strength, Sisterhood & Self-Care, sharing part of her journey during a gathering centered on survivorship, connection, and hope.

A special thank-you to Pretty Poodle Entertainment for bringing people together to celebrate survivors and create space for strength, sisterhood, and self-care. Your commitment to supporting the breast cancer community means so much. 💗

As the 2026 General Election approaches, the Ogden Family Foundation encourages our Southern Nevada neighbors to check their registration and make a plan to vote.

📅 October 6: Last day to register before extended registration begins

❤️ September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month ❤️

This month, the Ogden Family Foundation stands with individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease.

Sickle cell disease is a group of inherited blood disorders that affects hemoglobin—the protein in red blood cells responsible for carrying oxygen throughout the body. It can cause red blood cells to become hard, sticky, and sickle-shaped. These cells may block blood flow and break down early, leading to severe pain episodes, anemia, fatigue, infections, and other serious health complications.

Although there is currently no universal cure, early diagnosis, quality medical care, proper treatment, and community support can help individuals manage the condition and live healthier lives.

Together, we can increase awareness, support those living with sickle cell disease, encourage blood donation, and advocate for greater access to quality care and resources.

Let’s continue educating, supporting, and strengthening our community—because no one should face this journey alone.

💕🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month — a time to honor survivors, remember those we’ve lost, encourage early detection, and stand alongside everyone whose life has been impacted by breast cancer.

For the Ogden Family Foundation, this month holds a deeply personal meaning. Our Executive Director, Kema Ogden, is a breast cancer survivor, and her journey is a powerful reflection of the strength, faith, perseverance, and community that carry so many people through a breast cancer diagnosis and beyond.

We’re proud to share that Kema will be the Featured Speaker at Bottles, Brushes & Brunch: A Day of Strength, Sisterhood & Self-Care on October 10th. She’ll share part of her journey while joining an afternoon dedicated to celebrating survivorship, sisterhood, self-care, resilience, and hope.

The event will feature brunch & mimosas, painting, vendors, music, raffles, and opportunities to connect and celebrate together. Even more importantly, a portion of the event proceeds will support breast cancer awareness. 💗

💜 FROM YEAR-ROUND WELLNESS TO BEYOND THE SCOREBOARD 🏀

Health, wellness, education, and personal development have long been part of the Ogden Family Foundation’s commitment to building stronger communities.

Over the years, that commitment has extended beyond individual events and into year-round wellness programs and initiatives designed to give young people opportunities to learn, grow, stay active, and develop skills they can carry into the future.

Through programs such as our FIT Program, young people have been encouraged to make physical activity, healthy choices, and overall wellness part of their everyday lives.

Through Camp Ogden Club, youth have participated in workshops, fitness activities, and educational experiences focused on developing healthy habits both physically and mentally.

And through the Ogden Leadership Club, our focus has gone beyond physical wellness to include leadership development, financial education, budgeting, decision-making, and preparing young people with practical skills for their futures.

Teaching financial wellness at a young age is an important part of that foundation. Helping young people understand budgeting, responsibility, leadership, and healthy decision-making can give them tools that continue to benefit them as they grow.

Today, those same principles are helping shape our next major initiative:

In partnership with UNLV, Beyond the Scoreboard builds upon the work the Ogden Family Foundation has been doing for years by bringing physical health, mental and emotional wellness, financial empowerment, education, community resources, and active engagement together under one initiative.

The programs and opportunities may continue to grow, but the purpose remains the same: giving people the knowledge, resources, and opportunities they need to build healthier lives and stronger futures.
