A Milestone for Forever One
Last Friday, October 2, we gathered at the future home of the Forever One Memorial for a moment we have been working toward for years: the official groundbreaking.
As I said during my remarks â I had to pinch myself, because itâs hard to believe weâre finally here.
We were honored to have so many of the people who make this memorial possible with us â families of the 58, survivors, first responders, community members, elected officials, donors and supporters who have helped bring this vision to life. The site was full, the energy was incredible, and the afternoon was a powerful celebration of remembrance, resilience and the community that continues to stand together.
For those who werenât able to join us in person, we are grateful to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for livestreaming the ceremony so it can be shared with our broader community. You can watch the groundbreaking livestream here.
We also want to extend a special thank you to the organizations who supported the event and helped make the day so meaningful, providing everything from food and water to restrooms and mental health resources. These in-kind donors include LVMPD, United Rentals, Professional Contractor Supply, Pinkbox Doughnuts, Siegelâs Bagelmania, Community Ambulance, Resiliency & Justice Center, Courtroom Critters, Fuente de Vida, R&R Partners and the Vegas Golden Gals.
We are also grateful to the incredible musicians who stayed after the ceremony to share their talents and help us celebrate together: Bryan Hopkins, Pat Dalton Outlaws and Angels, and Shannon Kain.

The groundbreaking came at the end of a meaningful week of remembrance. In the days leading up to October 2, members of the Forever One Memorial team joined families, survivors, first responders and community partners at events throughout Las Vegas marking the ninth remembrance of October 1, 2017. It was a week filled with reflection, connection and reminders of why this memorial matters so deeply to our community.
And while the groundbreaking marks an important milestone, it is just the beginning.
Construction is now underway, and our goal is to have the first phase of the Forever One Memorial open to the community by October 1, 2027 â the 10th remembrance of October 1, 2017. Over the coming year, we will continue to keep our community informed as construction progresses and share important milestones along the way.
Thank you for continuing to stand with us as we build a permanent place to remember the 58, honor survivors and first responders, and bring our community together â forever remembering and healing as one.
