Laborers 1686 was proud to attend the Hellgate High School career fair then on to the Trapper Creek Job Corp & Open House. Our Field Agent Tracy and Training Director Bryan were there to represent our local and informing students the community about career opportunities in our Local. 💪

Data centers have been a hot topic lately, and we want our members to know where we stand. Local 1686 supports responsible, union-built data centers that create high-quality jobs for our members.

We recognize the valid concerns many community members have. Our role is to bridge those concerns and the reality that data infrastructure is coming, and it can provide good jobs for our members when it's built right.

To earn our support, data center projects must meet LIUNA's five principles:

High Road Labor Standards: Construction and development must be performed by signatory contractors and covered by a Project Labor Agreement.
Community Benefits: Developers must be transparent so that local communities share in the benefits.
Environmental Accountability: Cooling technologies must conserve water and improve energy efficiency.
Local Hire and Registered Apprenticeship: Labor partnerships must create long-term careers with family-sustaining wages.
Energy Sustainability: Ratepayers must be protected so residents and local businesses don't bear the cost.

It is not our job to sell data centers, it is our job to secure high-quality jobs for our members and fight for the best possible contract.
