We give thanks for the blessing of the incredible talent of Mrs. Duncan - our new MS Art Teacher.

Alexia Duncan, born and raised in Montana, is thrilled to be a part of the St. Andrews team:

A brief back story: After earning my first degree in Environmental Science from MSU, and working in the field of Environmental Restoration, I was not reaching my full potential and wanted to give more of myself to my community. This sent me back to school to study art at The University of Providence (formerly the University of Great Falls). I focused my studies on the classical masters of art, developing my sculptural techniques and an intense study of color theory. I worked for several different art organizations, including Paris Gibson Square Museum, Art Association of Montana, and AVA Community Art Center of Gillette, WY, developing and implementing classes for all abilities and age groups. My love for teaching grew, so ultimately I went back to school again. (Yes, I might be addicted to school!) After earning my Master's in Elementary Education, our lives took us to Boise, ID. In Boise, I worked as the Director of Education for Huntington Learning Center, developing curriculum and training teachers on how to use the materials.
When we were given the opportunity to move back to Montana, my family did not hesitate. Over the past few years in Helena, I have put all of my efforts into my two daughters, building our home, and involving myself in every art opportunity I could find. My greatest joy in art comes from working with and teaching others.

As the great master Henri Mattise once said, “Creativity takes courage”, and that is what I hope my students find in my classroom: The courage to create, to fail, to grow, and to thrive.

🎻Sing, Choirs of Angels🎤 - We welcome the wonderful Anna Milburn to our Faculty!

Anna Milburn is excited to be joining the St Andrews team as the Middle School Choir Teacher. Having grown up in Helena, she wears several hats around the community, including Education Coordinator for the Helena Symphony, Adjunct Instructor of Musical Theatre at Carroll College, and private voice instructor. Her different positions allow time to create productions, introducing young audiences to the joy of classical music and the performing arts, and coaching young performers in how to improve and hone their own craft. She also loves her Grandstreet Theatre community where she performs in and music directs different productions. When she is not teaching or performing, Anna loves to hike and spend time with her fiance, Brandon.

How blessed we are!! Our additional 4th Grade teacher is the wonderful Sarah Leslie.

"After receiving an elementary education degree with a reading endorsement for prek-12 at Franciscan University of Steubenville, I taught 4th grade at St. Andrew for 13 years. While staying home with my 3 young children for the last 5 years, I enjoyed tutoring many students in PreK-6th grade especially in reading, writing, and math with a variety of different curriculums. Over the past several years, I also had the opportunity to teach a variety of classes, including writing and science in a Catholic homeschool co-op for grades PreK-6th grade. With a deep heart for Catholic education, I am overjoyed to be back at St. Andrew teaching 4th grade again!"

Hoops For A Cause is an annual 3-on-3 tournament. This year’s proceeds are going to help cover the costs of one of their Carroll basketball player’s cancer treatments, which thank God is in remission. If your kids are of age and like to play, consider signing up. They’re accepting donations and are selling raffle tickets as well.

We welcome Miss. Kacy Clements who is thrilled to be joining St. Andrew as a 3rd Grade teacher this year!

"I was born and raised in Colorado before moving to Montana to attend Carroll College, where I played soccer and recently graduated this past May with a degree in Public Relations while also earning my elementary education and special education teaching license from the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence. I have attended Catholic schools since kindergarten, and it means so much to me to now be able to teach in a Catholic school community where faith is at the center of everything we do. I feel so blessed to begin my career at such a wonderful school.

Outside of teaching, I love spending time outdoors, running, reading, and exploring all the beautiful places Montana has to offer. I am so excited to meet all of you and to make this year full of learning, growth, and joy together!"

The Lord has blessed us again as we grow our 5th Grade into two classes! We welcome Dr. Cannon to 5th Grade.

"My name is K**a Cannon, and I look forward to joining the St. Andrew Catholic School family this fall. As a K-12 teacher and Professor of Education, I have served students of all ages. I believe the construction of knowledge depends upon students engaging with an idea or experience, and also wrestling with tricky how and why questions as they determine its value or relatedness to their lives and their unique experiences. In my classes, I provide time for deep thinking, the sharing of ideas, experiential learning, and for reflection within a classical learning space centered upon our Catholic faith. I completed my Doctor of Education in K-12 Educational Leadership, Curriculum, and Instruction in 2020; my Master of Arts in Social Science Education in 2011; a graduate certificate in Academically and Intellectually Gifted in 2011; and my Bachelor of Arts in Geography, with a minor in Anthropology in 2008—all at University of North Carolina Wilmington. I rounded out my science content experience by completing the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)’s graduate certificate in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science Education in 2017. In 2016, I founded DiveN2Life, a non-profit educational organization which utilizes scientific research SCUBA diving and environmental stewardship projects focused on coral reef ecology, underwater archaeology and heritage conservation, and marine habitat restoration to engage children and teachers in place-based STEM education. When I am not facilitating academic programming, I am exploring our nation’s physical and cultural landscapes with my husband Richard and our Spanish Water Dog, Mia."

As we look to the summer and the year ahead, we remain deeply hopeful. Not because all the work is done—far from it—but because we are not alone. We have each other. And we have the Holy Spirit, who has already been so clearly at work in our midst.

May God bless each of your homes with peace, renewal, and joy in the coming days.

Grandstreet Theatre School Words by Kids is a cherished tradition where the 3rd and 4th grade class at Grandstreet Theatre School sends a request to 3rd and 4th grade students in the Helena School District for any stories, songs, or poems that they have written. One of our students was honored with a performance of her story at our school and a gift certificate from the Montana Book Company. Thank you for this wonderful experience for our students!
