We are proud to celebrate the Rising Achievers who have chosen to continue their educational journey at Seminole State College of Florida.

Selected through the Rotary Club of Lake Mary's Rising Achievers Program, these students have demonstrated resilience, determination, and perseverance in the face of significant challenges and responsibilities.

This year, 14 of the 18 Rising Achievers selected across Seminole County will attend Seminole State. Through a partnership that began in 2014, these students receive support as they pursue their educational goals. Additional assistance is provided through the Dede Schaffner Endowed Scholarship for Rising Achievers, established through the Foundation for Seminole State College in 2016.

These students were recommended by their schools’ leadership and ultimately selected by the The Rotary Club of Lake Mary.

The students who received awards are:
Jordan Lee, Hagerty High; Zy’kerria Walker, Hagerty High; Giselle Torres, Lake Brantley; Marli Mankarious, Lake Brantley; Nyla Trice, Lake Howell; Brenden Wilick, Lake Mary; Arwen Brodeur, Lyman High; Red Fonteboa, Lyman High; Kaley Nunez; Oviedo; Patrick Woideck, Oviedo; Kaiden Rim, Seminole High; Zoey Martin, Seminole High; Aaliyah Barker, Winter Springs; Lil'Enzie McKenzie, Winter Springs.

Since its creation, more than $100,000 has been awarded to 99 Rising Achievers, helping students pursue their dreams and build brighter futures.

We look forward to welcoming these remarkable students to campus and seeing all they accomplish.

Meet Angela Yang, a Seminole State College of Florida student pursuing her Associate in Arts degree in Economics and a recipient of the Bernard Albert and Elva Ridings McGee Family Endowed Scholarship.

As a first-generation college student, Angela says this scholarship has given her financial support and the freedom to focus on her education and goals.

"Your kindness and financial assistance are empowering me to continue chasing my dreams," said Angela. "With this scholarship, I can focus more on school rather than working. This scholarship helped me realize there are supports all around me. Thank you for being my support and catalyst in chasing my dreams and goals."

Stories like Angela's are why Foundation scholarships matter. Each year, donor-supported scholarships help Seminole State students stay focused on their education, reduce financial stress, and move closer to achieving their goals.

The Fall Foundation Scholarship application period is now open. Don't miss the opportunity to apply for scholarship support for tuition, books, and other educational expenses.

Apply today at www.foundationscholars.com and take the next step toward your future.

We’re honored to be an America250 grant recipient through the Duke Energy Foundation.

This funding supports our work to help veterans and transitioning service members through Mission Finish Line, a program supported by the Foundation for Seminole State College. The goal of Mission Finish Line is to help connect student veterans and facilitate networking, leadership development and specialized job training.

The $15,000 grant from the Duke Energy Foundation will give participants access to employment fairs, internship opportunities and relevant seminars and conferences all across the country.

Thank you, Duke Energy, for investing in expanded opportunities for those who have served. And thank you for supporting Seminole State College of Florida and our veteran students and supporters, like those pictured here representing our UAV Club.
