đź’š We are incredibly honored and grateful! đź’š

On Saturday, Double Kwik presented The Rising Center with a $2,000 award through their “60 Grand for 60 Grand Years” Local Hero celebration! 🎉

Being recognized as a Local Hero means so much to our team. Every day, we have the privilege of walking alongside survivors, providing advocacy, therapy, education, prevention, and support throughout the communities we serve.

This generous $2,000 gift will help us continue providing resources and support to survivors while strengthening our work across Eastern Kentucky.

A huge THANK YOU to Double Kwik for investing in local organizations and recognizing the work happening right here in our communities. We are so grateful to be chosen and even more grateful for the survivors and communities who trust us every day. đź’š

Congratulations, Mavis!!

Mavis has always been an incredible supporter of our work. We wanted to take time to appreciate her and her accomplishment!

🎓 Congratulations to Mavis Poe Clemons, who turned a lifelong dream into reality by earning her Licensed Clinical Social Worker credential.

💙 Now, she’s bringing that experience back to HCTC students while showing them that even the biggest goals can still be within reach.

🌞 Happy 6th Workiversary, Sheila Spencer! 🎉
Today we celebrate our incredible Victim Advocate and Director’s Assistant, Sheila! 💛

Sheila, you truly are a ray of sunshine. Your positivity, kindness, and ability to always see the bright side make such a difference to everyone around you. More importantly, you are a phenomenal advocate who consistently puts survivors first and leads with compassion, dedication, and heart.

And we can’t celebrate Sheila without recognizing just how incredibly helpful she is! Sheila is always willing to jump in, lend a hand, and do whatever is needed to support the team. Whether it’s helping a colleague, supporting a survivor, or simply stepping in to make someone’s day a little easier, she does it with a smile and a positive attitude. Her willingness to serve, encourage, and be there for others is just another reason she is such a valued part of our team. 💛🌟

We are so grateful for all that you do and for the light you bring to our team every day. Here’s to another year of making a difference and uplifting those around you!

We wanted to take time before making our memorial post but wanted to remember the impact Mary has had on our community.

Mary was more than a leader, she was an advocate for compassionate care, and someone who believed deeply in the mission of The Rising Center. Because of her unwavering support, countless survivors across our eight-county service area were able to access trauma-informed therapy, advocacy, prevention education, and hope during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

She believed in investing in people, empowering programs, and ensuring that survivors’ voices were heard. Her leadership helped strengthen our center, expand our impact, and create opportunities that will continue to change lives for years to come.

While words cannot fully express the loss we feel, we are incredibly grateful for the legacy Mary leaves behind. We will honor her by continuing the work she cared so deeply about. We will continue to walk alongside survivors, advocate for healing, and create safer communities throughout Eastern Kentucky.

Our hearts are with her loved ones, the staff at KRCC, and everyone whose life was touched by Mary’s kindness, wisdom, and unwavering dedication.

Thank you, Mary, for believing in us, standing beside survivors, and leaving our community stronger than you found it. Your legacy will continue to rise through every life changed because of your vision.

đź’™ In loving memory of Mary Meade McKenzie.
