We’re still looking for good people to serve on the Kentucky River Community Care Board of Directors.

Right now we especially need neighbors from Lee, Owsley, Leslie, and Wolfe counties.

People who live here, know these hills, and care about mental health, substance use recovery, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and crisis help for the folks around them.

We want the Board to look like the communities we serve. That’s why those four counties matter so much right now.

Board members meet regularly and serve four-year terms (two in a row at most). The Nominating Committee puts names forward. You can also be nominated by petition with 25 registered voters from the region.

Something new is opening up for parents around here, and it feels like a good one.

KRCC is starting parenting classes on how to be a nurturing parent. In person or virtual. Breathitt, Knott, Lee, Owsley, Letcher, Perry, and Wolfe.

It’s the kind of class that meets you where you actually live. Everyday stuff. Real talk. Tools you can use the same night you get home.

You’ll need to complete intake first. Call 606-436-5761 and check with customer service about insurance.

If you’ve been wanting a little extra support with the kids, this is an easy first step. Come as you are.

If you are raising or caring for someone with an intellectual or developmental disability, you already know that kind of day.

KRCC’s Michelle P Waiver can put extra help beside you here in Breathitt, Knott, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Owsley, Perry, and Wolfe counties.

That can mean help around the house, someone going with you into town, a real break for the caregiver, job coaching, or a day program that teaches useful skills. Medicaid financial eligibility applies, and we will walk you through it.

You are not alone in this. We meet you right where you are. Just people who know these hills and want your family to have what they need.

Some mornings just getting out of bed feels like the hardest part of the day. Your thoughts stay loud. Your energy stays low. You are not alone in that.

KRCC’s 1915(i) RISE program is here for adults 18 and older who have Kentucky Medicaid and a serious mental health diagnosis. It brings real support right into your home and community so you can keep living where you are, not somewhere else.

Help can look like:

-A steady person walking with you to plan your days
-Support with housing and keeping a place of your own
-Help managing medicine
-Guidance toward work or school
-Rides when you need them
-Extra hands so caregivers can rest

The aim is simple. More independence. More recovery. More of a life that feels like yours.
