LOM is a Christian Ministry Organization, that uses Hunting and outdoor recreations to share the Legacy of Jesus Christ and build the kingdom of God. We want to teach and encourage them to be Men of God and leaders in their homes, churches, and communities. We have ministries geared towards small groups and families, designed to strengthen the bonds between each other and the Lord. We also focus o
n children and youth ministries with the expressed goal of passing on the legacy of the outdoors and sharing the love of Jesus Christ with the next generation. Why is LOM’s focus on Men’s Ministries? We believe that Men need to be encouraged to be Men of God. We believe that when you teach husbands, fathers, and sons, to walk in the way of our Lord Jesus Christ, they become the men that God created and ordained them to be. They become more loving husband. They become more attentive fathers. They become more obedient sons. We focus on men’s ministry because we believe that when you encourage men and teach boys to follow Christ, they will, in turn, lead their families, churches, and communities to Christ as well. How does Legacy reach people? LOM offers a variety of ministry events throughout the year, including Father Child Hunts, Summer Camps, Group Retreats, and men’s bible study. We also host meals, events, and offer hunts for every season. Our outreach includes speaking engagements, wild game suppers, and conventions such as the Sunbelt Ag Expo in Moultrie, GA and GON Outdoor Blast in Gwinnett County. When did LOM begin? In 1993, Kyle Woodfin and his wife Alanna accepted a dual call of ministry to Helen, Georgia. There, Kyle pastored Helen First Baptist Church while partnering with the Georgia Baptist Convention and the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention to begin Georgia Mountain Resort Ministries. It was through this joint ministry of pastoring and resort ministries that the Lord began developing a new ministry through hunting and shooting sports.
“It was Labor Day Weekend 1999 that I first announced to Helen First Baptist that the Lord had been laying on my heart to start this new ministry. From the very beginning there was this dream that someday we would have a lodge and land on which to build a year-round ministry. Truth is I had very little idea of how to do a year-round ministry back then, so the Lord set us off on a journey that has taken over 20 years. In that time, He has led us, taught us and used us to build that ministry. Along the way He has given us many wonderful people to work with and many local churches that were willing to partner with us, come alongside us and make this ministry happen. Many people have worked with us and many have contributed financially to us to help this ministry grow and to touch many lives for our Lord and Savior.” – Kyle Woodfin Founder/Director
Where is Legacy Outdoor Ministries? LOM is currently located in Hawkinsville, GA. We manage Browndale Plantation with 2400 acres of hunting land, 3 ponds, and 4-bedroom hunting lodge. We are blessed to be able to run our ministries full time and offer hunting for every season. Who are the Woodfin’s? Legacy is a family run ministry. The family behind that ministry is us: the Woodfin’s. Kyle, Alanna, Kent, Elizabeth, Georgia (3), & James (1). We are the family who will host you when you attend a Legacy Outdoor Ministries Event. Georgia will greet you at the door, Elizabeth will check you in, Kent will guide your hunt, Alanna will serve your meal, and Kyle will lead your devotion. We have devoted our lives and our family to this ministry. We work and serve together in hopes that you will experience God and the love of Christ while you are here. We will be praying for you and we ask that you pray for us as we seek the will of the Lord and do the work that he has given us. This truly is a God-sized adventure!
