Renovations are officially underway in Aberdeen! 🛠️

We’re excited to give you a look at the progress happening inside our Aberdeen location. This expansion will soon allow us to provide immediate, short-term shelter to 10 additional families at a time.

Celebrating a new chapter! ✂️

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday to celebrate the ribbon cutting for Harford Family House and our neighbors at CHEP, Inc.’s new offices in Havre de Grace!

We were honored to welcome elected officials, board members from both organizations, representatives from the City of Havre de Grace, the Havre de Grace Chamber of Commerce and Harford County Chamber of Commerce, and members of our local business and civic communities.

As CEO Robin Tomechko shared, this move was about more than a new space. Relocating our former offices in Aberdeen allows us to expand our services and provide short-term shelter for 10 additional families at a time.

Also, we want to extend a special thank-you to our wonderful volunteer Cecelia for making the day even sweeter with her delicious homemade cookies!

Together, we're creating more safe spaces for our neighbors experiencing homelessness.💜

Many hands make light work!🙏❣️ Thank you to these amazing ladies from EPIC Community Church for their hard work painting, cleaning, and setting up one of our offsite properties. Their hearts for service helped make this house feel like a home for an incoming mother of 5 experiencing homelessness.

A little good news for your Wednesday ✨ We’re celebrating some recent resident milestones at Harford Family House!

💼 New jobs: Residents across our Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing programs recently secured jobs with local employers including Wayfair, Five Below, Mr. Y’s, ShopRite, Domino’s, Cracker Barrel and Waffle House.

📈 Career growth: A former resident was recently named The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region's 2026 Most Outstanding Employee. Additionally, one resident received a raise during his first week at a new job, while another was promoted to manager at Domino's.

🏠 New homes: Five residents from our Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing programs recently moved into permanent housing, taking an important step toward long-term stability and independence.

👶 New beginnings: One mom in our Transitional Housing program welcomed a beautiful baby girl this month.

📚 Personal Milestones: One resident recently began working while registering for college classes, and another in our Permanent Supportive Housing program recently enrolled in driving school.

💗 A very special welcome to our newest resident!

This past weekend, one of the moms in our transitional housing program welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world. We are overjoyed to celebrate this precious new arrival and congratulate Mom on this incredible milestone.

At Harford Family House, we're honored to provide more than just housing. We strive to create a supportive community where families can find stability, hope, and the opportunity to thrive. We are grateful that Mom and baby could begin this new chapter surrounded by support during such an important moment in their lives.

Everyone’s favorite club is back for the school year! 🎉 Our Healthy Habits Club kicked off its first meeting of the year making yummy yogurt parfaits. 🍓 Thank you to volunteers Amy and Emily for such a wonderful activity!

Our Healthy Habits Club teaches the kids in our programs how to make a healthy recipe from scratch, promoting healthy eating for our youth.

Squeaky clean!🪥✨ According to the CDC, 60% of children aged 6 to 9 years from lower income households have had cavities in their primary (baby) or permanent teeth.

At Harford Family House, we prioritize health in all forms. Our Case Manager, Brittney, recently snapped this photo of our residents walking into their dental appointment she drove them to. 🦷🪥
