We were honored to join today's bill signing for PA 26-127. This law reauthorizes renewable energy incentives that were soon to expire.

Connor Yakaitis, deputy director of the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters, said, “At a time when Connecticut residents remain concerned about the cost of utilities, this action reinforces our state’s commitment to expanding renewable energy, lowering long-term energy costs, and building a more resilient electric grid. In signing this bill, the governor marks an important milestone in Connecticut’s continued transition to a cleaner, more affordable energy future. By preserving critical cost-saving programs for residential, commercial, and community solar, the state is providing the certainty needed for families, businesses, and the clean energy industry to continue investing in solar energy. While more work remains to make energy more affordable and achieve our state’s clean energy goals, today’s action provides a strong foundation for continued progress. A new report “How Did We Get Here? Connecticut Powers New England” by the CT Center for Economic Analysis and CTLCV, looks at how Connecticut became New England’s power generator and what that means for energy costs today.

With affordability a top concern across the state, the report breaks down what’s driving utility prices and explains the history behind Connecticut’s role in generating and delivering electricity. Full report at www.conservationeducation.org.

Locally generated and rapidly deployable solar power is key to a clean and affordable energy future.

Proud of our staff for their work on this bill!

The bill, House Bill 5340, establishes targets for megawatts and budgets each year, creates dedicated solar rates for low-income households, creates successor programs for residential and non-residential and community solar programs and standardizes successor tariff programs for 20 years.
