Shenandoah Chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society (VNPS) Social Media and Websites: Facebook offers pages and groups.

This chapter of the Virginia Native Plant Society includes five counties: Augusta, Highland, Page, Rockingham, and Shenandoah. Our interim board is comprised of Anna Maria Johnson, Elaine Smith, Isaac Matlock, Lora Steiner, and Katy Melton Simpson. Mission: We are a conservation organization dedicated to conserving Virginia’s native plants and their ecosystems through education, advocacy, and activities that promote appreciation, stewardship, and appropriate use. Pages can be followed and liked, but only groups can be joined. Shenandoah Chapter is set up as a page but is also an in-person group you can join via vnps.org. Virginia Ridge and Valley Native Plants is a Facebook group that can be joined only virtually. The Virginia Native Plant Society on Facebook has both a page and a group.

The Ridge and Valley yard signs are back! They will be for sale at the swap this Saturday for $22. Not too early to think about holiday gifts for gardeners!! The swap is a low key sharing of plants from yours and our gardens. If you don't have plants to share, there will be some for sale at great prices. Come by for a fun end of the gardening season hang out!

See you this Saturday 10/24! We'll be at Oakdale Park (Shelter #3) in Bridgewater from 1-3pm

We’re thrilled to share an update! Many of you know Natalie Izlar, who has served as VWL’s Botany Technician for the past three years. Natalie recently transitioned into a Graduate Research Fellow role with VWL as she pursues her master’s degree at James Madison University!

We’re excited to support Natalie on this next chapter and look forward to seeing all she accomplishes!

Our Native Plant Garden Backpacks are officially launched! We’re thrilled to be able to share this resource with the community. Stop by your local MRL branch to check one out!

We’ve also curated a native plant mobile exhibit that will be on display at Massanutten Regional Library’s Central Library during the month of September. Find our new bilingual wildflower coloring sheets, wildflower of the year brochures, and more. It is located on the 2nd floor at the top of the steps. Drop by during operating hours to check it out!
