Happy National Custodial Workers Recognition Day!

We know custodial staff are so important to keeping our schools and buildings clean and safe. HEF invited all the schools and buildings to personalize a little gift - a framed picture of the place where each custodian works to give a little extra thanks today.

It takes many amazing people to keep our schools ready to support student learning. Let's say thank you!

It's Funded Friday, where we highlight past Innovative Educator Grants. New students at W.H. Keister Elementary had special insight on day to day life at school thanks to the new Welcome to Keister books.

Spring grantee and SPED teacher Rebecca Yutzy proposed the project to empowers 4th- and 5th-grade special education students to create a printed storybook introducing Keister’s key spaces and staff to help new families feel welcome. Aided by the talent of the students and some helpful staff members, this awesome book covers everything from math and morning meeting to recess and specials. Such a fun way to build excitement and also bring comfort to students and families to know what to expect. Rebecca shared that her students also suggested the full book be translated into Spanish for families.

Special thanks to Harrisonburg Dermatology for being the Grants Champion for this project.
