In Harrisburg, you can work full-time (sometimes more) and still not be able to afford a place to live. That's a system. Not a coincidence. 🧐⁣

Downtown Daily Bread is proud to show up every day as an emergency first responder for our community. We will never stop doing that.⁣
⁣
But emergency response was never meant to be the whole answer.⁣
⁣
We are asking the harder questions now. Why are people hungry? Why is stable housing out of reach for working families? Why are mental health resources failing the people who need them most?⁣
⁣
Individual compassion moves hearts. Policy change moves systems. Harrisburg deserves both.⁣
⁣

📢 Service Update!

To ensure we can continue serving our community safely and effectively, Downtown Daily Bread will implement temporary service modifications beginning Saturday, June 6.

The most important thing to know is that meals will continue to be available throughout this period. 🍽️

Please note the following temporary changes:

• Breakfast and lunch will be provided to-go only
• The building will be closed to public entry
• The Day Shelter will be temporarily closed beginning June 6
• The Night Shelter will be open June 5 and June 6, and closed June 7–12

Regular operations, including day and night shelter services and normal building access, will resume on June 13, 2026.

We remain committed to supporting our neighbors and appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these temporary adjustments. Please help us share this update with anyone who may be impacted.

Not every business opens its doors with a giving heart, Shake Shack did.⁣

We are so grateful for their generosity on opening day at their newest Pennsylvania location. Their decision to give $1 from every burger and sandwich sold to Downtown Daily Bread meant that every single customer who walked through those doors became part of our mission.⁣
⁣
We watched that day unfold with full hearts, and by the end of it, they had raised $1,267 for the neighbors we serve every day.⁣
⁣
This is what local partnership looks like. This is what it means to open your doors with your community in mind.⁣
⁣

On April 12th, our community came together at Strawberry Square for Plants + Pints, and the room was full of exactly the kind of energy that fuels our mission. The impact of your generosity will be felt right here in Harrisburg.⁣⁣

Every dollar raised goes directly to Downtown Daily Bread and the neighbors we serve every day. Together, we raised $8,000. 💚⁣⁣

We’re excited to share that our Executive Director was featured on Good Day PA on ABC27 to talk about the upcoming Plants + Pints event!

Join us this Sunday, April 12th, at Strawberry Square, not just for a great time, but for something bigger.

All proceeds from Plants + Pints directly support Downtown Daily Bread, helping us provide meals and essential services to our Harrisburg community. Last year alone, this event raised $7,000 to fuel this mission.

Because when we show up together, we create real impact in our communities.

We’ve been selected as the beneficiary of Tröegs Independent Brewing ALEtruism Perpetual Friday Campaign, an initiative that gives back to organizations doing meaningful work across Central PA. 🧡

Every Friday in February, will donate $1 from every draft pour of Perpetual IPA directly to our mission of serving our neighbors experiencing homelessness and hunger.

This means more meals served, expanded services, and direct impact on our community.
