We were thrilled to bring the PRLA Educational Foundation Hospitality Career Exploration Workshop to Lancaster last week, in conjunction with the PRLA Annual Conference. A huge thank you to the Lancaster County Workforce Development Board for sponsoring this workshop, to the Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square for hosting. 👏

High school students from across the Lancaster region explored exciting careers in hospitality through a day of immersive, hands-on activities including:

👨‍🍳 Culinary & pastry demos: Talented chefs from Tec Centro Lancaster and Tec Centro Berks led students in hands-on demonstrations of taco trifolds and bananas foster.

🗓️ Event planning 101: Christine Cleaver, Clinical Assistant Professor from NYU's Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality, guided students through the art of creating unforgettable experiences

Last week, high school students from Philadelphia and Chester counties explored exciting careers in hospitality at the PRLAEF Hospitality Career Exploration Workshop, hosted at The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College in partnership with Philadelphia Works.

Students experienced:
👨‍🍳 Hands-on culinary & pastry demos led by Walnut Hill College Chef Instructors Greg Slonaker and Derek Andress

Since 2006, the Pennsylvania Restaurant & Lodging Association Educational Foundation has invested over $520,000 in Pennsylvania's future hospitality leaders through the PRLAEF scholarship program. 🎓

These scholarships help students pursue careers in culinary arts, hospitality management, and tourism while building the skilled workforce our industry needs.

We're wrapping up with a spotlight on our Hospitality Career Exploration Student Workshops! 💼👩‍🍳🏨

Throughout the year, we host workshops across Pennsylvania to bring 7th-12th grade students face-to-face with exciting career opportunities in culinary arts, baking/pastry, hospitality management, and tourism.

Our workshops bring learning to life through hands-on experiences: rolling dumplings alongside professional chefs, getting behind-the-scenes hotel tours, and diving into real event planning challenges. Students don't just learn about hospitality—they experience it firsthand.
