We know that many families in our community will face hardships in November while SNAP benefits are paused. As a small business, we can’t do everything, but we can do something.

Beginning Friday, November 7, we’re bringing back and officially launching Spreading the LOVE Bags :free weekend healthy meal bags for school-age children whose parents need a little extra help until school meals resume on Monday. Because no child should start the weekend hungry.

When: Fridays, 5 PM – 6 PM
Where: Mango Mangeaux (community pickup location)
Who: Local school-age children
What: Free weekend “Spreading the LOVE Bags” including two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners, snacks, and fresh fruit — prepared or donated through Mango Mangeaux.

We’ll offer these bags every available Friday in November.

Offered in limited quantities, each act of love is made by hand. Must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian over the age of 18.

🧡 Spreading Love, One Bag at a Time.

Friends – we don’t say this lightly – we need your help!

Last week THRIVE received 519 requests for food assistance, more than DOUBLE what we typically serve. But it’s not just food that’s in demand. Dozens of financial requests are pouring in from furloughed workers who are wondering how they will pay their November rent and other bills.

This morning we held an emergency meeting with the THRIVE team to see how we can serve more people as soon as possible.

The reality is that so many people are in crisis – from furloughed government workers and laid-off contractors to families who will be facing delayed EBT benefits, inflation, and layoffs. We need YOU to serve them.

What can you do?

Hosting your drive is simple, fun, and impactful—and we’ve made it easy with your Harvest Hero e-Kit (everything but the cape!) Fly on over to: https://www.thrivepeninsula.org/harvesthero

Please ask yourself: what can I do to help my community? Choose an action, share this post, tell a friend who wants to help! If we band together we can meet the need!

We will plan to post an update on social every Monday during the furlough to share our progress.
