HOMICIDE SUSPECT IN POLICE CUSTODY

A suspect wanted in connection with the homicide of 49-year-old Sammy Lee Pair was taken into police custody in North Carolina Tuesday.

Law enforcement developed information regarding the whereabouts of Tyrone Lamont Pair Sr. The U.S. Marshals Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force took Mr. Pair into custody approximately 1 p.m. February 9, 2021 in the 1800 block of Front Street in Durham N.C.

The arrest was the work of a combined partnership among the Newport News Police Department, the U.S. Marshal Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, and the U.S. Marshals Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Mr. Pair is awaiting extradition back to Newport News. He is charged with one count second-degree murder and three counts violation of a protective order.

ATTEMPTING TO LOCATE: HOMICIDE SUSPECT

The Newport News Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance locating a suspect wanted in connection with the homicide of 49-year-old Sammy Lee Pair.

Tyrone Lamont Pair Sr., 39, with a last known address in the 1100 block of Old Denbigh Boulevard, is wanted on one count second-degree murder and three counts violation of a protective order.

On January 3, 2021, approximately 1:09 a.m., Newport News police responded to the 1100 block of Old Denbigh Boulevard in reference to an unresponsive person.

Upon arrival, officers located a female — later identified as 49-year-old Sammy Lee Pair, of the 1100 block of Old Denbigh Boulevard — with injuries, deceased inside a residence. After further investigation, Ms. Pair’s death was determined to be a homicide.

Anyone with information that can assist in locating Tyrone Lamont Pair is asked to call the anonymous Crime Line at 1–888-LOCK-U-UP or submit an anonymous tip online at P3Tips.com. Tipsters may remain anonymous and never have to testify in court. If your tip leads to the arrest of Mr. Pair, you could be eligible for a cash reward up to $1000.
