We've had a report of a float/tube in the marsh entrance to the left of the Sunset Park Campground beach. If this is your float, it will likely need to be accessed with a kayak or canoe.

The dam will be opened on October 12th, and the water level will begin to drop from the current level. This drawdown is done annually so property owners can perform fall and winter shoreline maintenance and to minimize the chance of flooding during the spring thaw.

Please be advised so you can plan boat and dock removal as necessary.

It is that time of year when the leaves start falling.

While we can't prevent what naturally falls from the trees into the lake, please remember that as of January 1, 2026, due to NH House Bill 416, it is now a felony to dump yard waste into or near the lake.

Purposely adding/dumping yard waste into or near the lake contributes to increased nutrient loading which increases chances of harmful algae blooms like our lake had last year and decreases oxygen levels, negatively effecting wildlife such as fish and other aquatic life.

This fall, please be sure that your landscaper/lawn care service is aware of the law and refrains from blowing or dumping yard waste into the lake during the fall cleanup season.

Photos Wanted!! It is that time of year when we are looking for contributions of photos in and around Sunset Lake to use in our 2027 calendar as well as for puzzles and greeting/postcards. Photos will be attributed with the photographers name. Please send all photos to [email protected] by November 1st so that we can prepare the calendar for holiday gift order by mid-November. Thanks to our volunteers who helped with our Fall 2026 Road Cleanup. Thanks to the Hampstead citizens caring for our beautiful town; the amount of trash on our adopted roads has been continually dwindling in the past 3 or so years!

Sunset Lake Association volunteers will be out cleaning Kent Farm and Wash Pond Roads this morning from 8-10 a.m.

Please be careful driving along these roads and give a friendly wave to our volunteers that are helping to keep our town clean and beautiful!

We are still in need of 2 or 3 more volunteers for road cleanup on Saturday, October 3rd if anyone is interested/available. Thanks!

The Sunset Lake Association is looking for volunteers to help with the fall cleanup of our adopted roads on Saturday, October 3rd at 8:00 am. It will take 1-2 hours and the SLA will provide grabbers, trash bags, and bright colored vests. Participants should wear sturdy shoes, long pants, long sleeves, and gloves. Bright colored clothes are recommended.
