Hilda Frame's legacy

is worth preserving

Regarding the Jan. 22 story, "New life for old school/Hilda Frame School home to museum, meeting center":

I attended that remarkable little two-room school in Nesco. As a ward of the state, I was lucky enough to have Hilda Frame as a teacher and to excel while there and beyond because of the instruction, individual attention and lessons in life taught by a truly great teacher.

The idea of turning the school into a museum and community meeting center is most praiseworthy, and hopefully the Mullica Township Historical Society and senior citizens group will pave the way to restoring the structure and preserving the history of the building.

How many memories the school holds for those of us fortunate enough to be exposed to integrated instruction and the "open classroom" long before the concept was introduced into schools throughout America. Just imagine fifth-, sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders all being taught in the same classroom with one extraordinary teacher - Hilda S. Frame. Oh, how we learned and how well we were prepared for life. I'm planning to make a contribution to the Mullica Township Historical Society to move this terrific project forward, and I urge anyone interested in joining me to contact the group.
