Every May, Older Americans Month recognizes the contributions of older adults, highlights aging trends, and reaffirms commitments to serve our older community members. The 2026 theme is “Champion Your Health”.
Check out what the Oxford Area is doing to celebrate Older Americans Month:
Throughout the month of May, Oxford Seniors, Age-Friendly Oxford, and the Coalition for a Healthy Community, Oxford Area are partnering to highlight and offer programming focused on promoting physical, mental, and emotional health and well-being at all ages.
You can participate by playing “Community BINGO” with us! It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3!
1) Print your own or pick up a Community Bingo card at any of the following locations:
Oxford Seniors, 922 Tollgate Dr., Oxford
Oxford Lane Library, 441 S. Locust St.
The Knolls of Oxford, Clubhouse or Front Desk
Scripps Gerontology Center, 396 Upham Hall, on campus
2) Every time you do something listed on the card, mark it off. The goal is to get “BINGO” as many times as possible. A “BINGO” is marking off any 5 squares in a straight line – either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally.
3) Bring your completed BINGO card to the Intergenerational BINGO Party on Sun. May 31 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Oxford Seniors for prizes, snacks, and FUN!
