A few more moments from an amazing Founder’s Day of Caring project in East Haven!

House of Heroes CT was proud to work alongside WTNH News 8 and dozens of dedicated volunteers to complete much-needed home repairs for Army Veteran and cancer survivor Cleveland Wilson.

Special thanks to the Women’s Auxiliary Post 89 and T&J’s Supermarket, both in East Haven, for generously providing breakfast and lunch for our hardworking volunteers. Your support helped keep everyone fueled and focused throughout the day.

We are grateful for every volunteer, donor, and community partner who helped make this project a success. Together, we continue making a difference for our local veterans.

What an incredible day of service!

House of Heroes CT was honored to partner with WTNH News 8 for Nexstar Media Group’s 30th Anniversary Founder’s Day of Caring. More than 40 volunteers came together in East Haven to help 71-year-old Army Veteran and cancer survivor Cleveland Wilson with critical home repairs.

From painting and landscaping to repairs and cleanup, every project completed was a reminder of what can happen when a community comes together to support those who have served our country.

Thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves and made a difference. Together, we’re helping veterans remain safe, comfortable, and proud in the homes they fought to protect.

Our third veteran this past weekend entered the military at a young age, helping foreign soldiers learn English. It was House of Heroes’ honor to assist her with some much-needed repairs to her home. A special thank you to the Hon. W. Patrick Donlin Assembly 2459 Knights of Columbus New Haven and the Catholic War Veterans St.Michael's Post 1562 and Auxiliary for their outstanding volunteers and sponsorship of this project. We also thank Russo Roofing for shingling the shed roof and the Bilco Company for providing a new door. It was a wonderful day for all who came together to serve our Air Force veteran.

Project #2 this past Saturday in Middletown was another House of Heroes success story as we partnered with wonderful volunteers from Pratt & Whitney, an RTX Company, to assist a 76-year-old Army Veteran with vital, no-cost home repairs and property clean-up. Thank you Pratt/RTX! Through this past weekend HOHCT has honored and served 308 military and public safety Veterans and surviving spouses!

The smiles, the gratitude and honoring service… this is why we do what we do at HOH. Navy veteran Ron was a trained missile technician who held a top-secret clearance serving in the Polaris ballistic missile program. Memorial Day is a time to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy every day. At House of Heroes (HOH), we honor their legacy by serving veterans in need here in Connecticut.

As part of our 300th Home Weekend, we were proud to partner with Liberty Bank in East Haven to assist a deserving veteran who proudly served 14 months in Korea in supplies and procurement before dedicating 40 years of service to the U.S. Postal Service.

Despite the rain on Saturday, the day was a tremendous success thanks to the many volunteers and supporters who came together to help make a difference. A special thank you to the Friends of the Legion Post 89, McDonald’s of East Haven, Longley’s Restaurant in Branford, the Mannochi Family, and Anna Rose Russo for generously providing food for our volunteers. Your support and kindness are greatly appreciated.
