Thank you to the Fair Lawn Sunrise Rotary Club for this incredible honor. I accept this award with deep gratitude—and with a heavy heart.
Forrest Elliott was not just an example of Service Above Self… he was the definition of it. He was my friend. And in the time he was with us, he did more good than most people do in a lifetime.
From helping families here in Paterson, to stepping up for people across the world in Ukraine—Forrest never asked why, he simply asked, how can I help?
He began his Rotary journey with us, and in such a short time, he left a lasting impact on all of us—including my son, Jean-Marc, who had the privilege of going out with Forrest, John, Jean, and Vincent at 6 a.m. in subzero temperatures to serve the homeless in Paterson. That’s who Forrest was—he showed up.
Through Baby Bundle, he was one of my very first supporters—personally delivering a bundle to the family of a veteran returning from active duty, helping new moms in his town of Wood-Ridge, supporting Gift of Life, even traveling to Ukraine with George… and so much more. I could stand here for months and still not capture everything he did.
His kindness, his heart, and his actions continue to inspire everything I do.
This award means so much because it carries his name. I will do my best to continue his legacy of compassion, action, and service.
