Meet Spade & Clubs!

These two are looking for their forever home together - though they'd also do great with another kitten, or in a home that already has a playful young cat.

Spade is the confident one. He's usually the first to check out anything new, loves attention, and will happily make himself the center of it if you let him. Clubs is a bit more easygoing and affectionate - he likes sticking close to his person and warms up fast once he feels comfortable.

Meet Picasso 🧡

Picasso is a gorgeous long haired black kitty who was found in Hoboken completely covered in mats and burrs. A kind feeder noticed him struggling and reached out to us for help.

We got him in for an appointment where he was neutered and vaccinated, and the vet had to medically shave some of the worst mats. After that we set him up with a groomer to shave the rest down, and he finally got to feel like himself and start his socialization journey.

Picasso is still on the shy side, though he has come a long way and now loves pets, chin scritches, and makes the sweetest air biscuits. He is playful and very food motivated, which makes him fun to work with. But he still gets scared sometimes. We think he may have had a rough past, because now and then he watches your hand like he expects it to hurt him.

What he needs is an experienced person who understands fearful cats and can give him patience and time. With the right home he will keep blooming. He has already shown us how much love is in there waiting to come out.

North Bergen Purr is an all volunteer, foster based rescue in Hudson County. We have no shelter. Every cat we take in lives in a volunteer's spare room until they get adopted, and proceeds from this go straight to their vet bills, medication, food, and litter.

Durham was found outside in the cold with serious wounds, the kind that could have ended her story. They didn't.

Thanks to 28 supporters who rallied behind her medical fund and raised $1,000 for her care, Durham got the treatment she needed to fully recover. Now she's spending her days resting and hanging out with her foster siblings, settling into indoor life like she was always meant to be warm and safe.

Her foster has done a tremendous job in socializing her - She's more comfortable around cats, and if you have one, she tends to warm up to you faster too. She loves pets and gets more and more cuddly every day.

She was rescued from the cold and given a second chance because people showed up for her. Now she just needs a home to match. She is fully vetted and up to date on vaccines.

We need your help.

A few weeks ago, we told you about Tater, the tiny kitten who came to us with a fractured jaw. We shared that his jaw had healed. What we didn't share yet is what happened next.

His jaw healed, but asymmetrically. One of his eyes will always look a little different from the other, a permanent reminder of how he started life.

A few days after the x ray confirmed the fracture was healed, swelling came back at the site. We believe it was bruising from rough housing with his sister, not a new injury. The two of them were kept apart until the vet gave the ok for them to be together again.

Then Tater had two frightening episodes. He suddenly couldn't stand, his limbs went stiff, and he lay on his side for several minutes, fully conscious the entire time. His fosters brought him straight to VEG Hoboken. Bloodwork showed anemia, an elevated white blood cell count, low platelets, and signs of dehydration from not eating well due to the facial bruising. The vet couldn't rule out FIP. He was given fluids and a plan: recheck bloodwork, and a referral to a neurologist if it comes to that. The good news, Tater is doing very well now. His appetite is back and he just needs to put his weight back on.

But getting him here took real veterinary care, and there's more monitoring ahead to make sure he stays this way. $141 covers a recheck bloodwork panel. Every bit helps get him closer to a normal, healthy life and his forever home.

Emma came to us from the Associated Humane Society of Newark where she was original picked up as a stray. She has been vaccinated, spayed, treated for fleas/ticks/mites, and microchipped to our organization.

She would like to be the only pet in the home. She is not a fan of other cats, dogs, or small children. She would do best in a home where older children and adults understand cat behaviors.
