Domestic Violence Awareness Month Myth vs. Fact

Myth: Domestic violence only involves physical harm.

Fact: Domestic violence can be physical, emotional, financial, and psychological.

Abuse may look like constant criticism, manipulation, controlling access to money, online stalking, threatening messages, or sharing private images without consent. Not all abuse leaves visible bruises, but all abuse can have lasting impacts.

Tomorrow is , and we’re joining YWCA USA and sister YWCAs all over the world to call attention to the fact that child marriage is still allowed in a whopping 33 states here in the U.S.

Child marriage creates barriers to the ability of girls to access education and financial stability and significantly increases the likelihood of experiencing domestic violence for children into their adulthood.
