Tucked away in the Wyoming landscape lies a place where history wasn’t written in books, but carved into stone.

Legend Rock State Petroglyph Site is home to one of the largest collections of petroglyphs in the region, with over 300 carvings etched into the rock face. Some of these images date back more than 10,000 years, created by Native American tribes who once lived, traveled, and gathered in this very area.

These carvings weren’t random. They tell stories of hunts, spiritual beliefs, visions, and daily life. You’ll find depictions of animals like bison and sheep, human figures, and abstract symbols that still hold meaning we may never fully understand.

For the tribes who created them, this place was likely sacred. A place of storytelling, ceremony, and connection to the land. Every symbol was intentional. Every mark left behind was a message meant to outlast generations.

Standing there today, you’re not just looking at rock—you’re looking at thousands of years of human history, preserved in a way that still speaks, even if we don’t fully know the language.

Stepping back into the Old West, the Historic Wyoming Territorial Prison tells a powerful story of justice, survival, and life on the frontier.

Built in 1872 in Laramie, Wyoming, this prison was one of the first institutions of its kind in the region—holding everyone from petty thieves to notorious outlaws like Butch Cassidy. But beyond the names, it’s the day-to-day life inside these walls that really brings history to life.

Prisoners weren’t just locked away—they worked. From construction to farming, many helped build and sustain the very institution that confined them. Over time, the prison even evolved, later serving as a state penitentiary, a university agricultural station, and now a preserved historic site.

Places like this give us a real glimpse into the challenges of law and order in the early American West—and how far we’ve come since then.

Stopped and visited the historic Virginian Hotel in Medicine Bow, WY. Very cool old hotel to walk through. If you’re ever this way stop by and check it out.

Without me even asking the gentleman there told me a couple of ghost stories and said they have had teams there before. Maybe one I add to the list for a later visit.

Life has been BUSY over here between work and battling what feels like a full-blown science experiment in my pool 😅 (seriously… I think I’ve discovered a new species at this point).

But don’t worry—we haven’t gone anywhere.
