Mission Statement & Purpose
Horse Feathers Equine Center is a 501(c)(3) non profit dedicated and committed to providing services to horses that are found to be in need of healthcare, nutrition, and rehabilitation. We will assist abused, neglected and slaughter-bound horses in need on a discretionary basis by rehabilitating, training, and placing them in a forever home. Every horse we rehabilitate

receives medical attention to address all immediate physical needs, and ongoing veterinary, farrier and alternative/holistic care where needed. We utilize a tailored training program specific to each horse to help them realize their full potential, work within its limitations and work to address the issues that cruelty or neglect has left on their lives. Our staff uses proven methods and techniques to help our horses become balanced, confident and as productive as possible. The ultimate goal is to find a forever, lifelong home that is a perfect fit for each horse and their adoptive family. We strive to prevent future cruelty towards horses by educating the community on responsible equine husbandry through hands on instruction, clinics, and classes. Utilizing those not adoptable gives a second chance at a purpose and fulfilled life. Those horses not adoptable into a loving forever home due to illness, age, or other circumstances will remain at the facility to live their lives out in a humane fashion.

Ole Timers having a blast grooming!!
Boy has it been a super busy week. I haven't even had time to come in to update. Between doctors appts (trying to finally get things done from being sick for so long) to getting things caught up from being 3 months behind here. Office work, cleaning, sorting, projects to get done, finish installing security cameras we have been trying for few years to get done ๐Ÿฅน on top of a hundred other things we are making progress.
We are working now to finish cleaning up in the Big Barn and get things organized to take to the Flea Market in July. Lots of things going--saddles, tack, blankets, polos, you name it.... So look for us to POST on that one.
We had a new intake last Friday--week ago-- that I will post next and we will do a fundraiser for him. Please consider giving as costs for us as well as others are going up and funds are needed.
Hope your having a great weekend!!

Not sure why we can only add as โ€œreelsโ€ but tried on computer and now phone.
Wanted to share the first little while after turned loose. Sierra got turned in with herd. After about hour halter was removed. She comes in and out like such good girl. Learning more routines. Tanja worked with her while here on leading all over and moving lightly in round pen. Now on to more ground stuff!

Sierra our next upcoming adoptable was a true princess. Stood there like she always had it done. She did fantastic for farrier too. We got that toe pulled back more and shes doing great. You can sure see the Freisen in her when moves that back end. Just something about her.
Tanja is working with her daily and we will get her ground manners more solid and desensitizing. Prep for saddle stuff. Will post more as she progresses

Whew!! Been busy playing catch up after my vacaโ€™s at hospital ๐Ÿ™„ which meant mowing pastures. I mowed 7 of them yesterday and even with eyewear woke up with raw itchy eyes. Here comes the Pataday. Emily and boys picking up sticks n branches.
Now to move few uneaten rotted hay piles to burn pile and pastures look almost like a golf course ๐Ÿคฃ

A really good read for folks. One reason we are so particular about saddle fit. I would say 90% have chiropractic issues and sore backs which makes people think behavioral issues. We spend time working to help them overcome if possible.
