To Guthrie residents and followers of us!!
Since I got married in Dec, my shop has become a disaster with all of her things and my things, after combining 2 houses in one. Also, the pool table that was specially built for me and the program, is taking up WAY too much space in my workshop. Jennifer and I decided to buy a large 16x32 storage building. Our plan is to finish it out and then turn it into a recreational room and where Vets will eat lunch during workshops. Moving the pool table, dart board, board games and workout equipment into the building. This will open up about 1/3 of my workshop back, so we can host 5-10 Vets again.
The last storage building we built for wood storage, was built on site. This new building came built. When they arrived, I had to tear down some of my fence by my front gate, just to get it off the road. Once we looked, there was no way they could get it into my back yard. So we placed it on side of house and we plan to change siding on the house to match the unit at later date. I had electric work done in shop and spent over $3k just on that, but after electrician went to get permit, I found out we are in city limits of Guthrie, by less then a half a mile, but they refused to approve the placement of the building. So, we have to go to City Council Meeting on July 9th at 5:30pm and plead our issue and try to get approval to leave it where it is. If they deny this, it’ll be a huge hit on upcoming Veteran workshops. No chance I can host 5 Vets at once in current shop.
Attached is the letter I received and asking everyone if you feel like helping us plea our case, we would greatly appreciate it. Since moving here in 2021, we made major changes and cleaned up this property hugely. We know how much this program means to Kris and all the Vets that come help him or attend upcoming classes. If this doesn’t get approved, we are scared that the program won’t be able to continue in the current shop. Also, if you cannot attend the meeting, there’s info on the letter to mail them a letter instead of showing up.
Appreciate your time and consideration on helping us keep this program going strong!
We also plan to add a front deck to this building and attach it to the current front porch, so it’ll look like an add on to the house.
