These 2 horses have occupied a lot of my time this week, but both have happy endings!
Winning at Ease and Skedee are safe now, but they should have NEVER had to see the dark side of the auction/feedlot cycle.
A very big thanks to everyone that donated to their safety, and a special shout out to Gail at Beyond The Roses Equine Sanctuary for making the calls, organizing the arrangements, and always being there for a horse in need!
It appears our new program has begun before we were actually ready....but welcome to "Beyond The Thoroughbred Athlete"....
where we try to discourage the dumping of old horses, (especially broodmares) and if funds are available, we hope to network into safe quarantine facilities where they can be evaluated, vetted and possibly find a landing spot where they no longer have to worry about their next meal!
There are so many Thoroughbreds right now that are in lots all over the country. We are a very small organization and cannot help them all, but we do what we can!
