🎨 Art Club has officially begun! 🍂

Another one of our Sycamores started a club and invited the whole Village to join in! 💚

We kicked things off with fall-themed drawings, followed by some free drawing time. It was SO fun seeing everyone’s favorite things about fall come to life on paper! 🍁🖍️

Big kids leading, little kids creating, and lots of imagination!

What does the CEO of Village Roots do all day?
Very important CEO things, obviously 😝🤣

Fantasy Club has officially begun! 🦸‍♀️🦹‍♂️🤣

One of our Sycamores created a Fantasy Club and invited the Redwoods to join in! Everyone chose their side- superhero or villain- then created their characters before putting them to the test.

The superheroes took on an obstacle course while the villains followed along delivering their best evil monologues 🤣

The best review came at pickup when our little Redwoods were already asking, “When is the next Fantasy Club day?!” 💚

Student-led ideas + mixed-age fun = one of our favorite kinds of VRC days.

*Meet the Teacher* Ms. Ali is our Redwoods teacher! She packs her own tea for a weekend getaway, loves hiking despite her lifelong feud with sweating, and deserves an Oscar for the bug-rescuing bravery she performs exclusively for the kids. ☕️🥾🐞 She can disappear into a good book and reappear quoting a movie no one else remembers. 📚

Our Redwoods class (ages 5-8) is where learning becomes more intentional, but remains hands-on and engaging. Our focus is curiosity and early academic connection. We bridge play with intentionality. Students begin to explore science and social studies through shared experiences, questions, and hands-on exploration. 🧠🔭🤸‍♂️🌳

When it’s a beautiful day, the whole Village may or may not just move outside 🤣☀️

No complaints here 💚

Empowered parents build thriving classrooms! 🌱✨

Last week we hosted our annual VRC Cooperative Parent Training, welcoming our incredible new parent community into the heart of our school culture.
More than just walking through class flows and daily schedules, this session focused on something even deeper: heart-centered connection.

Here is what we explored together:
🔹Understanding the Flow: Mastering the rhythm of our VRC classrooms so parents feel confident and grounded from day one.
🔹 Connecting with Kids: Learning powerful strategies to tune into children’s emotional needs and support positive behavior.
🔹 Partnering with Teachers: Bridging home and school to create a unified, supportive environment for volunteering.

When parents and educators lock arms, our children soar. A huge thank you to all our families who showed up with open minds and big hearts. We are excited to have you on this journey! 💚

*Meet the Teacher* Mrs. K is a Co-Founder of VRC & our Maples teacher! She’s basically a glitter-covered park ranger with a Disney soundtrack and a sweet tea in hand 🧋🌈✨ She treats every day like an adventure and is happiest guiding little hearts through the magic of childhood. Mom of 2 high schoolers and hundreds of Village memories! 💕

Our Maples class (ages 3-5) is laying the foundation- not rushing academics. Our focus is security, confidence, and rhythm. We lay the foundation through play and sensory experiences. Here, we prioritize gentle introduction to group routines and the building of independence. 💚

Learning about their brains, their emotions, and now the world around them. 🧠🌿

Our Redwoods (ages 5-8) have spent the last few weeks exploring how their brains work, creating sensory tools to help calm their brains and bodies, and learning about growth mindset. Next up: Indiana habitats, plants, animals, and lots of hands-on outdoor discovery. 💚

We love seeing what they’re learning, creating, and wondering about each week.

Sycamores first project presentations! ✨
Big questions about community, connection, and kindness- and the sweetest audience of Redwoods to share them with 💚
