Let’s bust a major myth about orphan care. ❌

When James 1:27 calls us to "look after orphans and widows in their distress," there are no asterisks. God doesn't say you have to:
-Have a massive bank account
-Be a trained childhood expert
-Move across the world

God knows your current situation, your unique talents, and your capacity. And He is inviting YOU to join Him exactly as you are.

If you are questioning your role or wondering how you could possibly make a dent in a global crisis, The Boaz Project is here to empower you.

Our online course, Fundamentals of Orphan Advocacy, is completely FREE. It requires zero prior experience, is fully self-paced, and draws from our 25+ years of ministry to give you practical, trauma-informed strategies to change lives from home.

We have extraordinary news to share: our caregiver trainings for 2026 are officially FULLY FUNDED! 🎉

Because of your incredible generosity, an ambitious goal is now a reality. Right now in India, our partner caregivers are gathered together for essential training and well-deserved respite.

Trauma doesn’t just live in the mind—it impacts a child’s brain, body, behaviors, and core beliefs. Thanks to you, these dedicated men and women are getting the trauma-informed tools they need to speak truth, restoration, and deep healing into the lives of the children they care for every day.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making this possible. ❤️

Trauma doesn't just live in the mind. It shapes the brain, the body, the way a child behaves, and the beliefs they hold about themselves and the world.

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress..." James 1:27

Since the beginning of The Boaz Project, this verse has been the foundation of everything we do. It’s one of the simplest, clearest descriptions of what it looks like to follow Jesus.

But notice what it doesn't say. It doesn’t say to look after them if you are wealthy, if you are an expert with kids, or if you are ready to move overseas. The calling applies to every believer, right where they are.

If you've ever felt overwhelmed by the global orphan crisis, we want to equip you. This summer, we are offering our Fundamentals of Orphan Advocacy course completely FREE. It’s an online, self-paced, introductory course designed to give you real, evidence-based tools to support vulnerable children in South Asia, East Africa, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East.

When you join, you get a personal coach, biblical wisdom, and a supportive community.

When John was orphaned, he was taken in by a young married woman named Buela who was yet to have a child. Buela and her husband then had three more children, Suvisesh, and twin daughters, Abiya and Jenika.

When the children’s father faced legal trouble, the family entered a difficult season, and providing for four children became overwhelming. Without support, the children may have faced separation from Buela and one another.

Fortunately, through GS Project, our at-risk families program in India, Pastor Benjamin was able to come alongside the family, offering resources and consistent encouragement and covering the cost of their education. Because of this support, John, Suvisesh, Abiya, and Jenika are able to stay together, remain with their mother, and continue their education with hope for a brighter future.🧡

Our words matter. Using statements that provide encouragement and understanding can show others you are genuinely interested in them and have the ability to build trust in relationships. Words can leave a lasting impression.💚

Proverbs 18:21 states, “The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.” Words carry consequences and can encourage and uplift or can harm and discourage. Even though the tongue is a small part of the body, its impact can be large.

“Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up.” Proverbs 12:25

During the month of May, we would like to come alongside you on your mental health journey. Tools and resources to promote self-care and community will be shared.💚

Just as Jesus called Lazarus to come out of the tomb and Lazarus needed to respond, we, too, must be active participants in caring for our own health. Jesus also instructed those around Lazarus to help him out of his grave clothes, And our health involves coming alongside one another to provide assistance.

“Then Jesus shouted, “Lazarus, come out!.” And the dead man came out, his hands and feet bound in graveclothes, his face wrapped in a headcloth. Jesus told them, “Unwrap him and let him go!” -John 11:43-44

Hear from Courtney Kraus, our Director of Regional Partnerships in East Africa, as she shares what it looks like when the emergency fund meets real needs in real time.

These moments are not planned. They come suddenly and require immediate action. Because of this fund, children receive urgent care, caregivers are supported, and stability is restored when everything feels uncertain.

If you want to help make more moments like this possible, your support matters.

Olga is a caregiver, faithfully serving children every day. When she needed heart surgery, the emergency fund made it possible for her to get the care she needed. Because when we care for caregivers, we’re also caring for the children who depend on them.

This is why the emergency fund matters.

It allows us to respond quickly, so no urgent need goes unmet.

Michaela Shake, our Director of Regional Partnerships in South Asia, shares firsthand what it looks like when an emergency fund becomes the difference between fear and relief.

These are not distant stories. They are real moments where children receive care, caregivers find support, and hope is restored when it is needed most.

If you want to see more stories like this, it starts with being ready before the crisis comes.
