Had a great SWCD board meeting hosted by Ghost Light Farm. Our District Board and staff members got to see and hear about their project that was funded through Climate Resilience funds and how it has helped their grazing operations to expand and become more efficient. Sr Technician Amber Stark provided the planning through AEM and construction oversight.
Great discussion and and our hosts Bill and Kate Morriw provided us with great lunch featuring smashburgers.

Multiple wildflowers, and lovely wood turtle. This is the second time I have seen one while out in wetlands. They are quite beautiful and acquired the moniker wood turtle due to how their shells look like carved wood and they can be found in the woods.

Did you know that wetlands are a powerful protector of our environment and the living things in it?

Wetlands are often the first line of defense for communities facing severe weather, particularly due to climate change, and help cycle nutrients. They also house some of our favorite critters such as salamanders and frogs and can also serve as spawning sites.

Central New York has significant freshwater wetlands, including popular site Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge, which is 10,004 acres large!
