Decatur County Community Foundation Giving is about following your passion and making a difference for the causes that matter most to you. Each gift was invested into a permanent fund.

In 1992, a group of concerned volunteers gathered to establish a community foundation in Decatur County. They recognized that this new type of charitable organization would provide something Decatur County never had before: a charitable organization that allows donors to support any type of charity and more importantly, a foundation that is established to last forever. They worked diligently to establish the organization and gain those first gifts. Those gifts have developed into the existing endowment. Providing over $1.5 million in grants and helping to bring $2 million to the community in Lilly Endowment Funds, the Foundation has become a constant source of financial support to local non-profits. The volunteers and staff have established a structured group of committees, which actively monitor investments, grants, scholarships, donor relations, and overall operation of the Decatur County Community Foundation.

Thank you to Betty Lemmons for trusting the Community Foundation to carry on her family's memory through a scholarship. This newly established scholarship will benefit a graduating high school senior from North Decatur planning to attend a public college in Indiana for either a two-year, four-year, or trades degree.

Accelerate Rural Indiana's READI region recently celebrated projects completed by Shelbyville/Shelby County, Rushville/Rush County, Greensburg/Decatur County and Batesville through READI funding.

As part of the meeting's highlights, an inaugural Spirit of Regionalism award was presented to DCCF's Tami Wenning.

Tami was selected as the region's biggest cheerleader because of her help during its formative years. Before the region established its own development authority, Tami and the DCCF board agreed to manage and distribute READI 1.0 funds so that projects could begin taking shape.

Mayor Joshua Marsh presented the award.

Congratulations, Tami!
