No More Trash Bags Decatur County

No More Trash Bags Decatur County 8th Annual Decatur County Please check out these local small business owners and thank them for their thoughtful support of our donation drive.

is a community donation drive with the goal of providing a cinch backpack filled with essentials for foster children at the time they are removed from the home and placed in foster care. We want them to have a new, clean outfit as well as toiletries and hygiene items like a new toothbrush, toothpaste and shampoo. We also provide small journals, coloring books, puzzles and 'busy ha

nds' activities and comfort items like small stuffed animals and dolls. Our generous sponsors - Jennifer Louden Real Estate and Barb's Babes Day Cares - provide all the cinch backpacks for this project.

And just like that, another year of No More Trash Bags is coming to a close. ❤️

Before I start picking everything up, I want to take a minute to thank the people and businesses who helped make this drive possible.

Thank you to our donation drop box hosts:

Barb’s Babes
Dog Eared Pages
Jennifer Louden at Maximum Results Realty

Thank you for giving this project a place in your businesses and making it easy for our community to show up for kids in foster care.

A huge thank you also goes to this year’s sponsors:

Jennifer Louden Real Estate
Venue on Three

Your support helps make it possible to provide bags and essentials for children who are entering foster care during some of the hardest moments of their lives.

And to every single person who donated, shared a post, ordered from the Amazon Wish List, sent money, dropped off items, or quietly helped this mission move forward, thank you. Truly.

I’ll be picking up all donation boxes on Wednesday, so there are still a couple of days left to stop by one of the drop box locations and drop off your new, unused donations before the boxes disappear.

Every pair of pajamas, every pack of socks, every toiletry item, every comfort item matters.

Thank you for helping us remind these kids that they are seen, valued, and worthy of having things of their very own.

Closing out May with gratitude.
Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared, hosted a drop box, or sent encouragement.
And thank you in advance to the people who still plan to help.
We are still collecting through the end of May, still showing up, and still working to make those first 24 hours a little gentler for local children entering foster care.
The Wish List is linked on our page, and cash donations can be sent to on Venmo.

As we get closer to the end of this year's drive, I want to keep this mission in front of people.
Please do not underestimate how much these donated items matter: clean clothes, pajamas, underwear, toiletries, books, journals, crayons, and toys.
These are practical donations, but they also send a message of care.

This drive is not about extras.
It is about first needs.
First night.
First morning.
First hard day.
That is why we focus on basics, comfort, and simple items that help a child feel seen and cared for right away.

That is where this drive comes in.
We are collecting practical items that help make a child’s first night and first day in care a little gentler: pajamas, clean clothes, underwear, toiletries, books, journals, crayons, and toys.

Thank you again to our host businesses for helping make this drive visible and accessible in the community.
Local businesses helping local children is exactly the kind of thing I love to see.
If you stop in, please thank them for hosting a box. They do this for the cause, using space in their business, answering questions, using their time and energy to help us get as many donations as possible!
And if you are able, please consider leaving a donation while you’re there.

Sponsor Spotlight:

For the 8th year of No More Trash Bags, I want to take time to honor the women and businesses who have faithfully helped carry this mission year after year.

Today’s sponsor spotlight is on Jennifer Louden, a full-time real estate broker of 17 years who has spent most of her life here in Decatur County, where she also built her business and raised her family.

Jennifer shared that from the very beginning, she knew this was something she wanted to support because it was truly about the children.

What stood out to her most was the knowledge that every donation would directly benefit kids going through some of the hardest moments of their lives, giving them items of their own and a small measure of comfort, dignity, and care.

She said something that stopped me in my tracks:

“Every child deserves to feel valued, cared for, and know they matter.”

When asked what it brings up to think of a child carrying their belongings in a trash bag, Jennifer said it could make a child feel as disposable as the bag itself. That is exactly why this drive matters so much. No child should ever feel forgotten or thrown aside.

Jennifer continues to sponsor No More Trash Bags year after year because, in her words, the need is still there, and the children still need to know they are cared about and not forgotten.

She donates the backpacks, collects items at her office, and helps get the ball rolling, but she is quick to say this is never about one person doing everything. It becomes a true community effort, with many people stepping in to help however they can. Her belief is simple and powerful: someone has to be willing to start, stay consistent, and keep showing up for the kids.

That spirit says so much not only about Jennifer as a person, but about the values behind her business. She explained that her business is really just an extension of who she is, and that caring for children and the community has always mattered deeply to her. This is not about using a cause for business purposes. It is about loving your community enough to act.

When asked what community support looks like when it is done well, her answer was this:

“Empathy, compassion, caring, love, and all of us coming together to support one another when it matters most.”

And when asked why this cause deserves local attention, she put it plainly: because this is our community helping our community. Because children need us. Because the future of a community is shaped by how it cares for its kids.

For anyone who has been thinking about donating, Jennifer’s message is simple: if you can help, please do. Every donation matters. It does not have to be big. It just has to be something. Every act of kindness helps show these children they are cared for and not forgotten.

Her one-sentence answer for why people should support No More Trash Bags says it better than I ever could:

“Because this is about far more than backpacks. It is about making sure children know they are valued, cared for, and never forgotten.”

Jennifer, thank you for your faithful support, your compassion, and your willingness to keep showing up for the children of this community. It matters, and so do you.
