Good morning, St. Helena! With the stormy weather, we just wanted to share this reminder to make sure you and your loved ones are prepared.

With a potential tropical cyclone in the forecast for Louisiana the next few days, be sure to prepare your family and home.

The LSU AgCenter LaHouse Research and Education Center and recommends the following:

- Never drive in flooded streets. A foot of water is enough to sweep away most cars.
- Have multiple ways to receive news alerts including in the event of a power outage.
- Gather emergency supplies in case you lose power. This should include food and water for every member of your family, including pets.

Our young chefs have done it again! We are so appreciative to have had Mrs. Gloria Tanner assist with our culinary club session last night!
These 4-H members had a great time last night learning how to prepare a delicious family dessert while also developing important kitchen skills and discovering why accurate measuring is essential in cooking. 🥧🧑‍🍳

As promised, we are sharing the salt-free seasonal fresh fruit salad recipe that we demo'd today at Mr. Warner Hall's Spring Field Day! You can swap out these fruits for other ones that are in-season from your local farmers (St. Helena Farmers Market or other local producers), but just remember that a variety of color is key to make sure that you are getting lots of different vitamins. The honey, lemon juice, and lemon zest keep the fruit fresh, and it's a perfect addition to any barbecue, picnic, or cookout!

Fresh Fruit Salad
Serves 6
Ingredients:
1 quarter watermelon (6 cups), cubed
1 apple, cubed
6 oz blackberries, halved
6 oz blueberries
8 oz strawberries, quartered
1 lemon, zested and juiced
1 1/2 Tbsp local honey

Simply combine the ingredients into a bowl and toss! It's super easy and a crowd-pleaser, and helps to keep everyone hydrated and get their daily dose of fruit.

Thank you to everyone who came out today! Next time I will make a double batch. 😊

We are partnering with the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank to provie SUN Meal boxes again this summer at out Clinton and Greensburg locations!
-At this time, we do not have an official start date, but it is coming.
-New this year: When initially registering this year, all children being signed up must be seen by staff. This is a program rule and we must abide by it to continue offering this program in the future.
-We do not have to see each child for every pick up after sign up.
-As we get more information we will share it with you here, so please keep an eye out for updates!
